A long-standing member at Everyone Active, Dave regularly trains at Whitwick & Coalville Leisure Centre and Ashby Leisure Centre, where heโs put in serious preparation for this ride โ particularly making great use of the Watt Bikes at both centres (where you'll often spot him putting in the miles!).
Dave has previously completed charity rides for epilepsy research in memory of his first wife, and last year cycled from Landsโ End to John OโGroats to raise money for bowel cancer research. It was during that chilly August ride north that he decided his next challenge needed to be a warmer one โ sparking the idea for this epic new adventure.
Together with his friend Rich Hollis, Dave is riding from Heather St Johns Football Club to Nice in the south of France โ a staggering 1,200 miles with 20,000 meters of climbing, including the iconic Mont Ventoux with its brutal 2,000m climb over just 16 miles!
This ride is in honour of Amie, the brave and beautiful mum of Flynn and Noah, who sadly passed away last October. The whole football club was deeply affected, and Dave and Rich wanted to show their support in a powerful way.
๐ The ride is completely self-funded, with all donations going directly to LOROS, the charity chosen by Andy Ratcliffe in memory of his wife.
Theyโll be cycling fully loaded with camping and cooking gear the entire way.
Letโs support our members Dave and Rich on this phenomenal journey ๐
