Hello everyone!

I’ve now finished the second sample for my upcoming workshop next Monday.

This one is a lovely cherries design, and is a less intricate design than the strawberries one.

I’m currently working on the third and final design, which features citrus fruit.

There are still a couple of spaces available for the workshop, and here are the details:

THE WORKSHOP

The workshop will be at Craig-y-Nos Country Park, on Monday 22nd June, from 10:00 am until 3:30 pm.

The cost is £40 per person, which includes all materials and access to equipment, as well as tea/coffee/squash and biscuits.

The workshop will be focusing on hand stitched appliqué and simple hand embroidery. There will be three bag designs to choose from, all on a fruity theme.

Today has been an alterations kind of day.

Specifically alterations to a pretty yellow prom dress, to get it ready for a tacked fitting, hence the larger than usual stitches in a contrasting thread colour.

Once everyone is happy with the length and fit, I shall go ahead and finish it. 🙂🥰

Hello everyone!

I’ve now finished the first bag sample for my upcoming workshop on 22nd June.

I’ve stitched my lovely strawberry panel onto a commercially-made tote bag, and added a border of pretty strawberry ribbon around the edge.

I’ve had such fun designing and making this, and have started work on the second design, which features cherries.

I couldn't resist trying out this bag, and filled it with fabrics - of course!

You could make one just like this - what would you put in yours?

Hello everyone!

Hope you’re all having a lovely week, and managed to take advantage of the sunshiny weather before the rain came back. 🙂

It still feels sunshiny in my studio, whilst working on my lovely strawberry design for the first bag sample for my fruity themed workshop on Monday 22nd June. 🍓

I’ve now finished the panel completely, and it’s ready to be stitched on to the bag.

I’ve used simple embroidery stitches, plus a few little beads, to add definition and details to the leaves, stalks, and strawberries. I’ve finished off with some pretty blossoms and a couple of little garden friends. 🐞🐝

I have a pretty strawberry patterned ribbon to add a border to the panel, and will be stitching it on to a cream coloured readymade tote bag when I’m next up at my studio.

I’ve had such fun designing and making it, and I’m looking forward to starting the next design, which will feature another yummy fruit, soon!

You too could make one of these! I’ll have all the materials and equipment available at my workshop, and of course I’ll be there to teach all the stitches and techniques involved.

Hello everyone! 🙂

Today I’ve been doing some more work on the first bag sample for my fruity themed workshop on Monday 22nd June. 🍓

The juicy looking strawberries now have felt blanket-stitched stalks, and twisty ribbon stems.

I’ve pinned some leaves into place and stitched one down using pick stitch.

Tomorrow I shall finish the leaves, then use embroidery and embellishments to bring it all together, before stitching the panel onto a readymade tote bag.

The pictures show the process of my strawberry design building as each component was added, together with some of the techniques used. 🧵🪡

Hello everyone! 🙂

Whilst at my studio today, I spent some time working on the first bag sample for my upcoming workshop on Monday 22nd June.

There will be a choice of three designs, on a fruity theme, and this first design features strawberries! 🍓

I chose my fabrics, then cut out and appliquéd two strawberries onto a sunshine yellow panel.

The pictures show the process of marking & placement, blocking & pinning, and then stitching the pieces down by hand. 🧵🪡

Tomorrow I shall add some leaves and stalks.
