Some little artists found inspiration at Cocoon last night🌙

It's wonderful to see the Creative Reflection space filling up with vibrant, colorful paintings.

Cocoon is open until Saturday, so there's still plenty of time to visit and see the incredible work of talented creative women from our local community.
Feel free to stay awhile, soak in the atmosphere, and even create something yourself—there are some art materials on the table, or you could stay and read, write, think, rest, listen to music....

A huge thank you for all the lovely comments in the book. If you have a moment, we'd love for you to share your reflections through the online feedback as well: https://forms.gle/hj8FSDjWgmivA1zy7

I’m delighted that Cocoon has been extended and will be on display at Thurso Art Gallery in Thurso Library until Saturday, 1st February! (Library Opening Hours)

This exhibition celebrates the creativity of some truly talented women from our local community, developed during my time as Community Artist in Residence with Lyth Arts Centre in partnership with RASASH.

Textiles are so much more than just materials—they carry stories, memories, and meaning. Each piece in this collection reflects the individuality, creativity, and personal journey of its maker.

If you’re in Thurso and have a love for colour, pattern, and design, then please stop by.

Dear Friends,

Please come along to the Cocoon exhibition eveing reception, in the Swanson Gallery Thurso.

Cocoon is a collaborative textile installation and sharing of work, showcasing work co-created by a group of women in Caithness, in collaboration with artist Laura O’Kane.

The exhibition presents a collection of silk scarves designed during the 2024 Caithness Community Artist in Residence programme, led by Lyth Arts Centre (LAC) in partnership with R**e and Sexual Abuse Service Highland (RASASH).

Through a series of creative workshops, participants explored the transformation of inspiration into wearable art, focusing on colour, symbolism, and personal narrative.

The resulting works celebrate personal expression and collective creativity, sparking conversations about cultural activism and the vital need for accessible creative opportunities in the North Highlands.

The project was made possible through the generous support of Creative Scotland’s Participatory Arts and Mental Health Fund and Highland Council Community Regeneration Funding.
