Look at my cute gift from the lovely members at Burlington Machine Knitters Guild last night!

I went along to hang out, meet up with some of our MKC members, and demo one of the new techniques I’ve been playing around with combining Fair Isle, garter bars and hand manipulation!

The very audible gasps every time I pulled the garter bar away and all the stitches were back on the needles was so funny!!!

Such a lovely crew of machine knitters - and I was lucky enough to visit on their annual pot luck meeting so lots of yummy food too!

If you’re in Ontario and into machine knitting and you haven’t been yet, you need to check them out!

Say hello to the Itera Cardigan from Halyna Shemchuk

Doesn't this look like a lot of fun to knit?! Well you're in luck as we have a brand new Masterclass starting with Halyna tomorrow if you want to join us.

You get the full PDF pattern, step by step videos and 4 live classes with Halyna - plus the support of all our other members knitting along together.

Halyna is a pro when it comes to construction and finishing and in this class you will work through shaping the armholes, shoulders and neckline using partial knitting.

5 days, 4 lovely machine knitters & 4 Stoodley Jumpers knitted - take a look at all the photos to see the (almost) complete jumpers. So many lovely and different colour combinations.

It's been a crazy busy start to the year and I've really neglected keeping everybody updated here on what's been going on!

I'm on a mission to try and improve that. Today is Day 1 of our big trip to Canada & the US so I'm aiming to update with any machine knitting updates along the way.

Tonight I'm off to meet the lovely machine knitters at Burlington Guild in ON ...

Have spent the past couple of days getting the studio back into shape after 4 days of workshops last week. Two days were 1-2-1 lessons with Jenny where we worked on getting acquainted with her new (to her) 950i by knitting a jumper for her granddaughter.

Followed by two days of beginner's ribbing.

It was great to spend time with machine knitters from Manchester, Wales, France & the US! They also got to meet our latest MKC team member - Nicola S from - our new studio assistant who will be helping workshops run smoothly.

Now it's back to a quiet studio for me as I'm finalising the pattern for our Canada Retreat - it's off to my test knitters in less than 2 weeks and the yarn only arrived today so it might be a busy Easter weekend ...

Most of our workshops for 2026 are already full but there are a couple of spaces left on the autumn classes - click on the link below to find out more

This month in our Best Year Ever programme it's all about colourwork and we have been running a brand new KAL with one of our favourite tutors

Sadly as I've been overseas - and then playing catch up - I haven't been able to take part. But I have loved watching all the members join in and see what they have created.

Such a fun idea

🎲 roll dice to select your basic punchcard ideas
🎲 design your allover repeat pattern
🎲 knit a simple drop shoulder jumper from the pattern provided (or item of choice!)

Here are a small sample of some of the brilliant designs created by our members , Sarah, Emilie, Jackie & .fiona!

Which is your fave??

Starting next week!

Check out the latest design - the Equilibrium Jumper - from ! It’s is a relaxed, drop-shoulder constructed from modular triangles. Each triangle is knit and joined as you go, forming graphic strips with stripes meeting at sharp 60° angles. This becomes the foundation of the sweater - then the garment grows outward from that geometric base.

And the best bit? YOU CAN KNIT YOUR OWN VERSION!

Starting April 2nd, Rebecca is running a Masterclass in the MKC! And it's open to everyone.

She will walk you through the full construction, from triangle panels to finishing, with space for colour exploration and optional variations. You get the full PDF pattern and 4 live classes and the support of fellow machine knitters all knitting along together.

My 1st Creative Wednesday of 2026! Well actually my 1st in months but trying to get back in the habit …

The day starts with a run from home to the studio - luckily the weather was playing ball today!

Then a day of doing creative things in the studio - whatever takes my fancy. No job list, no tasks, no laptop and no emails.

Today I have given myself one or two jobs to get me started as the worst thing is the equivalent of a blank page and arriving with no idea where to start.

So projects for today …

- linking the seams back on a jumper sleeve that I’ve lengthened
- choosing colours for a new pattern I’m starting to design for our Canada Retreat
- cleaning & servicing a knitting machine ready for my next project

Swipe through to the last photo from this mornings run which seems very appropriate for how I’m feeling about this year!
