I’ve been asked a few times “Are your cards just for black children?”

No.

They are for all children, regardless of their ethnic background.
I often think to myself, would you think “are your cards just for white children?” had all the characters been white?

I created my brand because there are very few flash cards with children that look like me, my son and children in my community.

There is an abundance of flashcards out there with illustrations of white children, so there was no need to add to an already massive collection. Therefore, I believe the need to create a diverse line of flash cards is extremely necessary not only in my community but in all communities.

We must unlearn our unconscious bias and teach our children to not look at their friends or anyone differently, but to celebrate and learn from other cultures. I hope my brands and the ones that come after me lead us to a world where this question is no longer asked.
