We’re pleased to announce the start of the **public consultation** for the proposed **Shandon Hotel** — an exciting new vision that aims to deliver a high-quality hotel destination, support the local economy, and create new opportunities for visitors and the wider community.

Our consultation is now live, and we invite residents, businesses and stakeholders to watch the short video below to learn more about the proposals, the design approach, and the benefits the project could bring to the area.

Your feedback is important to us and will help shape the next stage of the plans before a planning application is submitted. Please take a few moments to view the video and share your thoughts.

A citizen uses a smartphone to access public services, illustrating AI-enabled multichannel support. The article "AI and the future of citizen support" (Think Digital Partners, Feb 5, 2026, by Christine Horton) explores how artificial intelligence is transforming the way local government contact centres support citizens. It emphasizes that AI is not meant to replace human agents, but to augment their capabilities by providing better context and tools for faster, fairer, and more responsive service delivery. Several key themes emerge from the piece: the evolution of contact centres into AI-enhanced, multichannel service hubs; the use of real-time AI analytics to proactively improve service quality; the importance of data readiness and an innovation-friendly culture; and the continued importance of human empathy in delivering public services. Below is an analysis of these key themes and takeaways from the article, followed by a concise social media post highlighting how AI is shaping the future of citizen support and public service delivery.

Great to present in Havering on Thursday evening 👏

We had a really positive planning presentation for the redevelopment of the former Debenhams site in Romford Town Centre.

The proposals explore an exciting mixed-use opportunity, bringing together commercial space, a hotel, new homes and a dedicated community space – all aimed at supporting regeneration, footfall and long-term investment in Romford.

Thank you to everyone who attended and engaged so constructively in the discussion. More to come as the plans progress. Town Centre.
