We asked ourselves this a while back. And we really couldn't remember.

Not because we don't care. But because we don't carry coins anymore. We don't carry much cash at all. Our children watch us tap a card or a phone and something happens, but they can't see what.

For generations, a coin handed to a child was the first lesson in money. It had weight. It had value you could feel. You could count it, save it, lose it and learn from it.

That ritual has almost disappeared.

Coink exists because we believe children still deserve it, just reimagined for the world we actually live in now.

I wanted to teach my daughter about money. I looked around the house for something to show her. There wasn't a coin in sight.

That was the moment we started building Coink.
