Is it worth getting clothes repaired? Usually, yes! There are so many positives to keeping clothes going for longer. In a few, sad cases, it may prove infeasible, even for the most committed pro-menders amongst us. We’ll always tell you - our seamstresses have seen it all and know what works 🪡

New blog post alert! Making your wardrobe sustainable in 2023. Go to ‘news and views’ on our website to read it. I’m leading by example (and so modest!) with this beautiful skirt. I loved the colour and sequins so much I bought a dress too big and had it turned into a skirt. The tailor was so skilled he even made a top from it too!

- being mindful of transport, grouping deliveries and using eco-friendly delivery options
- choosing businesses offering products and services for sustainability
- opting for reusable packaging where possible and telling businesses when they are using too much

Zips and rips are what we do - I sometimes think that’s what I should have called Mend by Mail! As always, if you or anyone you know needs their clothes mending, we’d be happy to help and it’s so easy! We send you the reusable envelope to use and the postage labels, you drop off your parcel at a Post Office and your garment/s is/are delivered back to your door, ready for months’ more wear!

Started my day with a little clothes repair for my daughter. Reminded me how incredibly skilled our seamstresses are (and why I’m the business side of things instead 🤓) I firmly believe that we should all be able to sew back on a button but to really care for our clothes, we need professionals!! Let’s hear it for the seamstresses 🙌

We need more businesses that repair!
I heard a fab interview with Cat Fletcher of yesterday on BBC Radio 4’s Gap Finders - a kindred spirit in the fight against waste
“We probably never need to make another coffee mug or canvas bag” was one of my favourite takeaways plus obviously the one that speaks directly to Mend by Mail: “There’s a whole field in business that needs to grow around repair and reuse and refurbishment” Changing wasteful consumerist habits needs an ecosystem of people, businesses and organisations 🙌

Today I’ve got trees on my mind. More specifically how essential it is to me that trees aren’t collateral damage in the circular economy. That’s why we provide reusable envelopes and take them back to be cleaned and used again. So we minimise the impact of our business on our precious environment 🌴

It’s been a bit quiet on the socials recently whilst we’ve been giving our website an upgrade.
But now it’s back and better than ever.
Hopefully you’ll find it even easier than before to order a repair or alteration.
We’re constantly trying to make it more straightforward to get clothes mended so even more people do it.
It’s still a niche thing to do. It‘a still not the norm.
To take better care of our planet, we need to take better care of our clothes.
One day, everyone will be doing it. And that’s what’s driving us forward.

Ah, zips. Can’t live with them, can’t live without them. They’re everywhere but so difficult to mend. Until manufacturers get better at using standard sizes and making parts available, we usually need to fit a new zip. But I’m an eternal optimist, and we’re trying to fix zips where we can.
