💕 Gone for Cake 💕

Hi All. I will be closed this weekend while I spend some precious time with family celebrating my father-in-law’s 80th birthday.

There will be plenty of laughter, lots of cups of tea, (or a glass of fizz or 2) and if history is anything to go by… far more cake than any sensible person should eat.

While the boutique doors may be closed, my online diary remains open 24/7, so if you’re ready to start your dress journey, you can still book your appointment at a date and time that suits you.

Thank you, as always, for your understanding. I can’t wait to be back next week helping more brides find their dream dress.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have an important family duty to attend too, I’m responsible for quality control on the birthday cake. 🎂

See you soon.

💕A Massive round of applause for this beautiful couple, both inside and out 💕

To be trusted by both these gorgeous fun filled women to assist with their big day at thebosk_bvc was such an absolute pleasure.

From the moment I met Lauren and her lovely mum Faith to then being introduced to Lauren’s stunning fiancée, Emily it has just been laughs all the way.
What a beautifully relaxed, and truly hilarious couple these are and OMG don’t they just look ‘unreal’.

These gorgeous photos have been captured by the equally fabulous victoriaspongephotography and they really accentuate the warmth and beauty of this couple.

Massive Congratulations to you both, Mrs & Mrs Fawcett. Thank you for allowing me to play a small part in your special day and wishing you so much love, laughter and continued magical moments together.

Love Helen. Xx

💕How many people should I bring to my bridal appointment?💕

The honest answer is that there isn’t a right or wrong answer. Some brides just bring one trusted person, others bring 2-3 of their closest family and friends and on the odd occasion I have had people just come in all by themselves (which is also very lovely as i can be their personal photographer/videographer)

The most important thing is bringing people who genuinely support you. While it can be wonderful to share the experience with many it’s worth remembering that every extra person brings their own opinions, tastes and ideas.
Sometimes lots of opinions can be helpful, sometimes they can make a decision feel more complicated than it needs to be.
If you find yourself trying to please everyone in the room, it can become difficult to focus on the one opinion that really matters most…..yours.

Please also take the time to check the boutiques own websites before your appointment as every boutique is different. Some have plenty of space for larger groups, whilst others (like mine) offer a more intimate setting so may limit numbers to try to ensure that every bride and their guests enjoy a comfortable relaxed experience.

💕So, here’s my personal advice:-

Consider bringing a small group of loved ones whose opinions you truly value. The people who know you best, help you feel relaxed, supported and confident. And don’t forget….

The fewer people who see your dress before your wedding day, the more special that reveal can feel.
There’s something rather special about keeping a bit of the magic for the day itself. At the end of the day your bridal appointment isn’t about finding a dress that everyone else loves, it’s about finding the dress that makes you feel amazing.

So if you’ve already found your dress please tell me below, who did you take to your appointments? Would you do anything differently? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

💕What if I don’t cry but I think I’ve found my dress?💕

It’s a question that you may well have asked yourself as a bride to be.
“I love my dress, but I didn’t cry. Does that mean that it’s not the one?”

Of course not. No.

Some brides cry when they find their dress, some laugh, some go really quiet, some can’t stop smiling and some simply feel a sense of calm and certainty.

The truth is that there’s no correct reaction.

Some TV programmes would have you believe that there should be moments where tears flow and everyone instantly knows. Real life is often more personal than that.

Finding your dress isn’t about performing a particular emotion. It’s about how the dress makes you feel.

Do you feel comfortable? Confident? Can you imagine yourself walking down the aisle in it? Does it feel like you?

The biggest clue isn’t always an emotional reaction at all.
It’s that you don’t want to take the dress off. You keep thinking about it after you’ve left your appointment. It’s that every dress is quietly being compared to it.

💕My advice💕

*Be honest with yourself.
*Trust your instincts
*Don’t measure your experience against someone else’s.
*Your wedding is unique, and your reaction to finding your dress will be too.

It’s worth surrounding yourself with people and suppliers who are genuinely invested in helping you make the right decision for you, not the decision they think you should make.

To sum up, the right dress doesn’t need tears to validate it, it should just feel ‘right’ and that is every bit as meaningful.

So, tell me, did you cry when you found your dress, or did you just know?

💕How long does it take to receive a wedding dress?💕

One of the biggest surprised for many brides is discovering that wedding dresses aren’t ordinarily sitting in stock waiting to be taken home. Many gowns are made to order which means once you have chosen your dream dress there can be a little wait before it arrives.

The designers I stock typically have lead times of around 14-24 weeks although this can vary dependent on the designer and the gown you’ve chosen……and that’s only part of the timeline.

Before ordering, you’ll want time to enjoy shopping, explore different styles and make your decision with confidence.
Once your dress arrives alterations may also be needed to achieve the perfect fit.
That’s why it’s always worth thinking about your dress journey as a whole, rather than simply focusing on the order date.

💕So, what if your wedding is sooner?💕

Don’t panic. Some designers offer rush orders on selected gowns, although these aren’t available on every dress and usually involve an additional charge.

💕My advice 💕

Start shopping a little earlier than you think you need too. Not because you need to make a quick decision, but because every bride deserves the time and space to enjoy this special part of wedding planning.

Finding your dress should feel exciting, memorable and relaxed; not like a race against the clock.

So, did you know that wedding dresses could take this long to arrive? I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences below.

💕THANK YOU SO MUCH LAURA💕

Laura, thank you so much for my lovely gifts. The Prosecco was such a thoughtful surprise and the Dairy Milk was the icing on the cake… especially as it’s my absolute favourite. I think it’s safe to say my diet has officially gone out of the window now.

It has been such a pleasure and a genuine honour to be part of your bridal journey. Watching everything come together and seeing your excitement for today has been so special.

As you marry your best friend, Michael, I would just like to wish you both a lifetime filled with love, laughter, happiness, and wonderful memories together. You truly deserve the most amazing day.

Thank you again for your kindness and for allowing me to play a small part in such an important chapter of your lives.

With lots of love,

Helen x

💕Why trying on dresses you’d never choose can be a game changer 💕

Have you ever noticed how often we describe what we don’t want in a wedding gown before we describe what we do?

“I don’t want lace.”
“I definitely don’t want strapless “
“I’m not wanting anything fitted. “

Yet some of the most memorable bridal moments happen when a bride tries on a dress she never expected to like.

When you first start shopping, it’s completely natural to have ideas about the styles you like. Pinterest, social media and magazines can all help you build a picture of your dream dress, but here’s the thing…..

A dress on the hanger can look very different once it’s on you.

A style that doesn’t catch your eye may feel amazing to wear, while the dress you’ve been dreaming about for months might not give you the feeling you expected. That’s why it can be so valuable to trust the process and stay open to possibilities.

*You may find a silhouette that suits you perfectly.
*You may fall in love with details you previously let pass you by
*You may feel more confident than you have ever before.

Saying that, this doesn’t mean try on every dress in every boutique, but if your bridal consultant suggests a gown that feels a little outside your comfort zone, it may be worth giving it a chance. What’s the harm, you can always say “No” after.

The goal isn’t to persuade you into choosing something that didn’t feel right. The goal is to help you explore options and discover what makes you feel your very best.

Some brides find their dream dress exactly as they imagined it, others find it in the dress they almost didn’t try on.

All it takes is one unexpected gown to change everything. So, my advice. Go into your appointment with inspiration and ideas, but leave a little room for the surprise, the wild card. You never know where the ‘right dress’ might be waiting.

Have you ever fallen in love and said yes to the wild card?
Bought the dress you didn’t even want to try on?
I would love to hear your story below.

💕 How do you know when you’ve found the one?💕

It’s one of the questions that I’m asked quite often. The truth is, there isn’t one magical moment that every bride experiences.

We’ve all seen the TV programmes where the bride breaks down in tears and everyone instantly knows, but in reality it didn’t always happen like that.

Sometimes…. Brides cry, brides laugh, they can’t stop smiling, some have quiet reflection and some simply look in the mirror and think:-

“This feels right, this feels like me”

One of the biggest bridal myths is that you need a huge emotional reaction for a dress to be the one. Honestly, finding your dress is often less about the tears and more about how it makes you feel.
Confident.
Comfortable
Excited.
Like yourself.

Sometimes the signs are surprisingly simple:-
You don’t want to take it off.
You keep comparing everything else to it.
You start imagining your wedding day.
And instead of focusing on the dress you focus on how you’ll feel wearing it.

💕My advice💕

Try not to put pressure on yourself to feel a certain way.
Trust your instincts and how you feel.

The right dress isn’t always the one that makes you cry. It’s the one that makes you feel like you.

So tell me, did you cry when you found your dress, or was your reaction completely different. I’d love to hear your experience below. Helen xx

💕 Where should you shop for Wedding Dresses💕

There isn’t one ‘right’ way to find your wedding dress.
Today’s brides have more choice than ever, which is amazing; but it can also feel overwhelming. So let’s look at some of the options available and what each can bring to your bridal journey.

💕ONLINE SHOPPING💕
Shopping online offers convenience and access to a huge range of styles. It’s a great way to explore options but fabrics, fit and quality can be difficult to judge from photographs alone.
Before purchasing take a moment to check the returns and refund policies so you know exactly where you stand if the dress isn’t quite what you expected.

💕CHARITY BRIDAL SHOPS💕
These can offer incredible value and are a fantastic option for brides on a tighter budget or those considering up-cycling a gown.
As with any pre-loved gown, check for signs of wear and tear and remember that alterations may have already been carried out, meaning the fit may differ from the size on the label.

💕BRIDAL BOUTIQUES & OUTLETS💕
These give you the opportunity to see and feel fabrics, compare different silhouettes and receive personalised guidance throughout your appointment.
Many boutiques order dresses specifically for each bride, which means gowns are non refundable and non exchangeable once ordered. It’s always worth reading and understanding the terms and conditions before making a purchase.

💕SO WHICH OPTION IS BEST?💕
The answer is simple, whichever option feels right for you.
Every bride has different priorities, budgets and expectations. What matters most is finding a dress you love and feeling confident in your decision.

💕MY HONEST ADVICE💕
Do a little research before you begin. Read websites, check out social media, check reviews and understand pricing and policies.

Choose experiences that make you feel comfortable, informed and excited about your bridal journey.

Finding your wedding dress isn’t just about where you shop, it’s about how you feel along the way.

So tell me, where did you find your wedding dress, or where are you planning to start your search? I’d love to hear below

Lots of love. Helen. Xx
