On the 6th of May 2009, Andrés Iniesta scored one of his most famous goals. The location was Stamford Bridge, London. The opponents were Chelsea. It was the Champions League semifinal second leg between the familiar rivals, and a ticket to the final at the Estadio Olímpico in Rome was on the line.
Barça, who were coached by Pep Guardiola, had drawn 0-0 with the Premier League giants in the first leg at the Camp Nou.
The Blaugrana experienced a tricky start to the second leg as Chelsea's Michael Essien opened the scoring with a phenomenal strike just 9 minutes in, putting Barça on the back foot. The sending off of Eric Abidal in the second half added to the challenge, but there was no giving up for Guardiola's men, who needed to score at least once to go through on away goals. The breakthrough came right at the death in the 93rd minute when a cross in from Dani Alves found its way to Leo Messi. The Argentine then set up Iniesta on the edge of the box, and the No.8 put his foot through the ball to send it into the top corner and Barça into the final.
