Hi everyone!
I have never formally introduced myself on this page but I've decided to show a bit more of 'me' here so let's start with a formal introduction...
The first picture is me, I'm Sarah, the woman behind the brand Sarah Boadu (SB). I am proudly Ghanaian, have been married for almost 8 years and have three daughters aged 6, 4 and 1.
I started running a dressmaking business 15 years ago, when I was 16 (feel free to calculate my age lol), the last picture was part of my very first fashion show in 2005. I used to sew African print dresses - Ghana independence was always the busiest time of year for me (anyone remember the raves lol?). When I started my business way back when, I used to sew from an ironing board in a room that I shared with my older sister (I owe her big time for all the times I used to sew through the night).
The business used to be called Red Rose Designs but since 2016 has been called Sarah Boadu, and specialises in bespoke bridal and special occasionwear. We operate from our studio (second pic) in Wimbledon, South West London (God is so faithful!)
In conjuction I also run another business (third pic!) founded during lockdown, making hair bonnets and other hair accessories that protect natural, curly hair and braids if you have natural or curly hair, you need one of our bonnets (shameless plug)!
Apart from designing and sewing, I have a passion to see people, especially women succeed in whatever capacity they desire. I'm all about female empowerment and excellence. My favourite quote is by the late Myles Munroe "The greatest tradegy in life is not death, but a life without purpose". I believe we all have purposes that go beyond our most ambitious imagination. I embody these values through the dresses I create - the female body is the most beautiful creation on earth and I aim to enhance that by making every dress fit like a glove.
That's it for today, I'll save the rest for the next time I put make up on and wear an SB dress😁 ♥️
