One of the best-kept secrets is stabilizing the lace before you attach it.

For a delicate lace yoke on a corset or evening gown:
-Back the lace with a very fine nude/skin-tone tulle or organza where necessary. This gives the lace a stable base without making it look bulky.
-Do not stretch the lace while sewing. Lay it naturally on the neckline and pin/baste it in position first.
