Afghanistan is country that have been in a war for about 40yrs now! It's a country that have refused to be colonized even during the colonial erra.
1. The Great Britain tryed to rule over them in last century but they were met with strong resistance and their forces ran out of that country.
2. In 70s the Soviet Union were the world super powers in those days. They entered Afghanistan with their military might with the hope of controlling that part of the world. The Mujahideen of the country rejected the Soviet Union continued resistance. The US supported them, calling them "freedom fighters" as they are fighting for their country. In 1989, AFGHANISTAN became the graveyard for the Soviet Union. So in other escape the catastrophe, they handed over the country to a puppet government which fell in the year 1992. Followed by a civil war, the Afghan Talibans rose to power in 1996, established the 'YA LAW in the country.
3. In 2001, after the 9/11 in USA, US president Bush demanded the the Talibans government to hand over accused Osama bin Laden Without delay! But the Talibans government insisted that USA must provide an evidence or through international court of justice to establish that the accused Osama bin Laden was either guilty of 9/11 or not before they can hand him over for justice but if the USA has no such evidence to back their accusation, the taliban government can't hand over a citizen to anybody base on false accusations!!!
In a matter of weeks, the USA and NATO military forces invaded afghanistan and quickly overthrew the Taliban government in 2001. The US then formed a USA backed afghan govmt in the country with Mr Hamid Karzai as the interim president and they drafted a new constitution in place of the Talibans Shari'ya law enforcement calling it "barbaric".
Unfortunately for USA and it allies, the Talibans rejected any government created in the country by the invaders and they vowed to continue the war against USA and NATO military forces and the US backed afghan govmt forces until that illegitimate government is dissolved in the country!
True to their words, the war continued for 20yrs, with the USA spending close to $2trn, more than 2,000 US soldiers died, 22,000 casualties, NATO military forces consisting of more than 30 countries also suffered heavy loses, more than 60,000 US backed afghan govmt forces died, more than 200,000 civilians deaths in crossfire, airstrikes, and a lot of collateral damages.
Looking at the loses, the US under D. Trump wanted to avoid US military deaths, hence they signed the Doha deal with the Talibans paving way for the USA forces to leave the country without further attacks from the Talibans.
Joe Biden postponed the withrawal timeline from 1st May to September 11th and and to 31st August.
But unfortunately for USA, the Talibans took back the Afghanistan in 15th August even before the US and NATO military forces could finally leave the country in 31st August 2021!
