Magnetic Field Strength Test #
According to actual measurements, thehighest magnetic field strength at thebalance spring of a watch movement is 9gauss.
9 gauss is approximately equal to 716.2 A/m, a value far lower than the 4500 A/mrequired by lSO standard lSO 764-2020 forantimagnetic watches.
Referring to Appendix C of lSO standard lSO764-2020 (Horology-Magnetic resistantwatches) regarding the relationship betweenmagnetic field strength and distancefrom the magnetic field source, 9 gauss isequivalent to the magnetic field strength at adistance of 4 millimeters from headphones.This magnetic field strength is far lower thanthe magnetic field strength of correspondingmagnetic components in smartphones,portable game consoles, tablets, laptops,handbags, magnetic necklaces, etc.
Therefore, there is no need to worry aboutthe magnetic field affecting the accuracy ofthe watch.
