MAM, like all great success stories, started off with a vision. Throughout the mid 1970’s, discerning parents were often forced to compromise between safety and style when purchasing products for their children. Peter Röhrig, MAM Founder and a qualified plastics engineer who has a modern understanding of the market, revolutionized the industry by developing safe, yet stylish baby products that include medical benefits not found in competing brands. Upon MAM’s inception, Peter Röhrig, along with his team of medical experts and studio designers, worked hard to develop a pacifier that raised standards for both design and functionality. The first MAM pacifier was sold in 1976 and has gradually evolved into the world's leading authority on the design of baby products. Ensuring proper teeth and jaw development in babies, along with a desire to make parents’ lives easier, have always been determining components for MAM studio designers and technical experts during development of MAM innovations. Together, they design distinctly styled, ground breaking products that have led to MAM’s ownership of sixty three technological and creative patents, and a milieu of awards. The patented MAM innovations, which exceed standards set by JPMA, USFDA and the EN1400, include the specially created shield for soothers, the silky soft teat, and the vented base of the MAM anti – colic bottle. The soothers are anatomically correct, allowing healthy jaw and teeth development and ensure a maximum level of comfort for babies of all ages. MAM bottles’ patented vented base works according to a unique natural-flow principle which ensures smooth milk flow. This ventilation system keeps babies calm and relaxed and eases the transition from breastfeeding to bottle feeding. MAM cultivates international exchange between renowned experts in science and research, acclaimed designers, applied medicine as well as child and parent care professionals in particular from pediatrics, neonatology, dentistry, midwifery, nursing, and development psychology. Due to good design, standard-setting functionality and technical innovation MAM received the prestigious British Mother & Baby Award for Excellence. MAM toothbrushes won the silver medal in the "Lifestyle" category of the International Design Awards held in Baden-Württemberg in 2002.
