On December 3 2020 our CEO Pontus Karlsson and CTO Daniel Viklund will participate in a discussion about the role and importance of tech and data in the journey to make fashion more sustainable, and the challenges the industry is facing implementing them. They'll also take the opportunity to talk about Fabriqo, a project that we've worked on for a long time, and why we've decided to launch it as an open source initiative.

The talk is moderated by Lauren Boucher from Redress and is part of a series of events during the year under the name SwedTALKS on Sustainable Fashion, co-hosted by Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and the Consulate General of Sweden in Hong Kong and supported by Hong Kong Design Centre and The Mills 南豐紗廠.

This year marks the five-year anniversary of the H&M Foundation Global Change Award and whilst it’s been business as usual in terms of the selection process, the Award ceremony, scheduled to take place on 1st April, was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Instead, the Foundation has asked the industry to celebrate the winners and “spread some online love” by sharing their stories on social media using the hashtag .

The apparel industry should brace itself for a hike in quality and CSR issues as the coronavirus puts additional pressure on the usual post-CNY backlog. Disruptions will be felt across the entire supply chain and will affect not only China but the region as a whole. An increased presence in the factories is essential to ensure that orders are prioritized and corners are not cut.

This year, the extension of the CNY closures as well as the uncertainty associated with the coronavirus will put additional pressure and increased risk on the entire supply chain, not only in China but also across the region as a whole.
