We’re delighted to announce that we’ll be making some exciting changes to our practice in Ballybofey.

☀️ SOLAR ECLIPSE - PROTECT YOUR EYES

- NEVER look directly at the Sun during the eclipse.

- Ordinary sunglasses are NOT safe - even very dark ones.

- Never look at the Sun through binoculars, a telescope or camera while wearing eclipse glasses. These devices need their own specially designed solar filter fitted over the front of the equipment.

- View a livestream or check your local area for an astronomy club event.

Looking directly at the Sun during the partial phase can cause serious and potentially permanent retinal damage. Optometry Ireland President and Optometrist Liz Grennan said: "Retinal damage from solar burns is difficult to notice as it happens because it does not cause pain but is not reversible. If you notice any distortion, blur or other changes in your vision attend your local optometrist as soon as possible"
