“It’s too heavy, no one will buy it.”

My fabric factory’s response when I showed them my favourite vintage T-shirt.

Purchased on Guadalupe street in Austin in 2005.

The T-shirt came in at a sweet 210gsm.

Light enough for the Irish (ahem) summer.

Heavy enough to wear ‘out out’.

They were justifiably sceptical, it would be too heavy for their summer.

I pushed on. I felt daft. They were the fabric experts.

But the factory was wrong.

They didn’t understand our climate; that we can have 4 seasons in a day.

The resulting T-shirt wasn’t too heavy, it was the perfect weight.

And according to feedback it’s particularly good underneath a scratchy aran knit.

Lately at Jump The Hedges;

⭐️ After selling out the first instalment of the Farm to Garment T-shirt, the final drop landed in June for newsletter subscribers. Thank you for all the orders, so many of which were repeat!

🌱 The Farm to Garment project was very much a passion project around traceability & understanding who grows & makes our clothes. XL is sold out & a handful of sizes remain in Small, Medium & Large. Run don’t walk! 💨

First up; yes the ‘Farm to Garment’ t-shirts are SOLD OUT!!!!!

Thank you so much for the amazing support for this project ♥️ The feedback has been phenomenal & this support & encouragement has paved the way for more garments that are currently in development ✂️ EVERYONE has commented on the T-shirt fit; I was that busy talking about the fabric & the craic with the Greek cotton farmers I barely mentioned the fact that the fit took MONTHS to get right!!

BUT don’t panic just yet if you missed out on the t-shirts, I’ve got something up my sleeve…👀 sign up to my IRREGULAR newsletter for an update soon 💌

🍁🌝 Happy Autumn Equinox Folks 🌝🍁

This weekend I will be speaking about my Farm to Garment T-shirt project at the & Autumn Equinox Weekend! 🌱

All the events kick off today & include talks, film screenings, workshops, music, food & plenty of craic 🤪

I will be on at 10.45am on Saturday morning but if you can’t make it out of bed for me then surely you will get down for the legend that is Bernadette Devlin McAliskey who will be on at 3pm speaking about Lough Neagh activism ✊

I will have a couple of T-shirts with me so if you have had your eye on one but are not quite sure what size would suit you then come on down for a try on! 😎

A big GRMA to all of you that have sent deadly pictures of yourselves enjoying your new T-shirts & for all the fantastic feedback 🥲

All the events will take place at the site which is opposite the 🌻

After a slap up lunch in we headed up to the beautiful north Belfast home of & 🏡

Connie & Aoife share their home with 7 cats, each with their own very individual personality 🐈‍⬛🐈🐈‍⬛🐈🐈‍⬛🐈🐈‍⬛

It was next to impossible for to get photos without laughter or craic from this pair 😂 Anyone else agree that they should be on Home of the year?!

Next up & I visited the very lovely artist to capture her in the ‘Farm to Garment’ T-shirt 💛

Hannah’s studio is perched at the top of an old terrazzo filled building in Belfast that takes in views of Black Mountain & the Belfast skyline ⛰️

Hannah is a long time supporter so we initially bonded over that & then over our shared love of the banjo 🪕🥹

Hannah’s work is so beautiful & her colour palettes are divine🤤 Thank you so much for having us Hannah & for being such a fantastic model 😍

A couple of weeks ago & I spent a day photographing some lovely friends in their creative spaces wearing my ‘Farm To Garment’ T-shirts 🩵

First up we visited the fabulous artist in her sun lit studio located in one of Belfast’s former linen mills 🌾

I think you’ll agree that Esther’s work is amazing ✨
And what about that beautiful studio space!! 🤩
