Thread Softly

Thread Softly Every doll and bear was turned out well. When I grew up and finished school it was a natural progression to pursue a career in art.

I have always loved making things and have done so for as long as I can remember, at age six I picked up my first pair of knitting needles and my love for yarn was born. I enjoy working with tactile materials and chose sculpture as my subject, but I always came back to yarn and would dream of things to knit. When I finished college I decided to turn my attention to the “Hook”, which had seemed som

ewhat of a foreign object to me. And that was it, I don't think there has been a day I haven’t crocheted since. I crochet anywhere I can grab a few moments and always keep a little notepad with me for scribbling down ideas. I draw my inspiration from the woodlands and coastline where I live in County Wexford. The wonderful colours and textures of the environment lend themselves to the textural and 3-dimensional nature of crochet. I am currently teaching both knitting and crochet classes and hope to continue to learn, share and create!

I mean your yarn, of course. Specifically, how do you tension your yarn when crocheting? I've always done it the way my mom first taught me. I mostly control the tension between my pinky and ring f...

Hello 😊 Sorry for the prolonged absence. I made this sweet little pixie hat last night from a pattern in Simply Crochet magazine (although Nancy insists it's an Elf hat 😉) Unfortunately I haven't got anyone to give it too as my baby isn't a baby anymore... So, leave me a comment here and I will pick a name at random to receive it as a Christmas present from me 👍 (it's 100% wool and baby sized - to fit head circumference of around 37cm give or take a couple of cm) I'll draw a name on Wednesday evening 😉
