AranAccessories

AranAccessories Knitter & designer from the Aran Islands. Aran warmth and tradition in designs with a modern twist.

I'm a knitter from the Aran Islands, combining traditional elements of Aran knitting (e.g. cables, lattice work) with more modern techniques, such as seamless knitting, to create my own original designs. I first learnt to knit when I was about 6, and, at school, we moved on to Aran knitting pretty quickly! I kept knitting over the years, as a hobby, and also started knitting some items for my cous

in to sell on Inis Mor, the largest of the Aran Islands. And then came the thought: wouldn't it be nice if people could buy genuine Aran knits without having to come all the way out here?! So I started making some items which would be nice and light and not cost too much to post (keeping costs down for my customers : ))

I'm always happy to hear from you if you have any queries about my shop!

We wonder who the gentleman might be.

Míle buíochas le chuile dhuine a tháinig chuig ár margadh beag ag Áras an Chontae an 3 lá seo caite - bhí sé go h-álainn bualadh libh (agus cúpla hata a dhíol libh! 😄)

Many thanks to everyone who came to the pop-up craft fair at the County Council over the last 3 days - it was lovely to meet you (and sell a few hats to you! 😄)

Delighted to be one of those featured in the Meet the Maker series by Galway County Council 😀

Buail leis an gceardaí!

Is mise Máirín Ní Dhonncha; is as Inis Oírr ó dhúchas mé, agus mar go leor óna h-oileáin, thosaigh mé ag cniotáil go h-óg!

I first learnt to knit when I was about 6, and, at school, we moved on to Aran knitting pretty quickly! I kept knitting over the years, as a hobby, and also started selling some hats. And then came the thought: wouldn't it be nice if people could buy genuine Aran knits without having to come all the way out here?! So I started making some items which would be nice and light and not cost too much to post (keeping costs down for my customers!) and opened an online shop, AranAccessories, on Etsy.

It was a logical next step to create knitting patterns so others could recreate my designs. I'm delighted to have had my patterns published in several UK & US knitting magazines, and have now sold thousands of knitting patterns, through Ravelry, Etsy, LoveKnitting and my own website www.aranaccessories.net .
