Who am I?
Waad Hammad is a Palestinian fashion designer. She was born in 1993 in Jerusalem, Palestine.
During her four years at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, where she learned many different courses she found herself eventually in the tailored designs, she carried out various projects, such as tailored jackets inspired by the 1840’s women’s fashion, and another project were she reconstructed a dress from the wardrobe of Queen Elizabeth the first.
Her graduation project “So it was, and so it shall be”, a tailored project that focuses on the Palestinian inheriting and Palestinian embroider was a great documenting project. She decided to embroider on the inside of the garment, in the depth of the linings, as a hidden secret that is shared between the person wearing the piece and the garment itself. . The silhouettes and cuts were inspired by the Western elite fashion during the forties and fifties, combined with her own traditional fashion and zeitgeist. Waad participated in an exhibition in Hanson House in Jerusalem, under the name of “Secrets” in the period of 30/03 to 21/04/2017. Waad is a Fashion Designer for Al-Quds Company that is located in Jerusalem, Palestine.
