My mother Gail, would often tell me stories of how my Grandma Dolly would take her to markets and little shops in 1970's Manchester to find beads and jewels. Grandma Dolly, an original glamour fashionista would sit for hours with little Gail designing and making. When Gail was 18, Grandma Dolly passed away suddenly, leaving a huge gap. Subsequently she moved to London and after finishing her MA at
the Royal College of Art, she opened her own jewellery business. Keeping with her own tradition, she would take me into town to find small boutiques and craft shops and always kept the door of her studio open to encourage me to join her in making. These two women inspired me to create a range of jewellery that I would wear, daily and comfortably. I wanted it to have a air of my grandma's elegance and my mother's finesse. It seemed appropriate to name the shop after my Grandma Dolly, as without her inspiration none of this would be possible, and I know how proud she would be if she could see all this.
