People often assume a brand is a big team, big office, big investors.
But sometimes it’s just one introvert sitting at home with an idea… and a very small team making it happen.
I sometimes get asked about the journey of the brand, how it started, how it grew, how we built it from scratch.
And honestly, I never really know how to answer that question.
Mostly because the reality is a lot quieter than what people imagine.
I’ve always been someone who prefers staying indoors, keeping things to myself, and working silently in my own little corner of the world. So whenever I step out somewhere and introduce myself, I often hear things like,
“Oh I’ve seen you around, I thought you were the model for the brand.”
or
“Oh you own Urmi? I thought the founder would be someone much older… or maybe a big company with investors behind it.”
And every time I hear that, it makes me smile a little.
Because the truth is far simpler and far more humble than that.
Most days it’s just me sitting at home designing prints, working on ideas, coordinating production, packing things, running around figuring everything out… with the help of a very small but wonderful team that helps bring these ideas to life.
Sometimes my inbox fills up with internship requests from fashion students across India and I feel overwhelmed wondering what work I would even give them, because I’m still figuring things out myself.
Sometimes a celebrity reaches out asking for our pieces.
Sometimes pop-up curators tell me the brand would be perfect for their events.
And every time something like that happens, it feels a little surreal.
Because in my head I’m still just someone quietly working on something I love… not fully realizing the impact it might be creating outside that small world.
