Flock Print is a special kind of printing technique in which very short fibers are made to adhere to a fabric surface forming designer patterns. In this technique, special adhesive is applied over the fabric surface at pre determined areas and then the fiber flocks are exposed to the fabrics.

When the fiber flocks are exposed to entire fabric rather than forming designs, flocked fabric is formed. It looks and feels like velvet fabric but it is costlier than flocked fabric.

Cotton has convocation, and wool has scales on its surface; as a result, these fibers scatter the incident light and therefore have a dull appearance. Silk's fibers, on the other hand, are more regular and even triangle shaped, and hence the incident light gets reflected evenly, giving it a distinct luster.

Silk has always ruled the textile sector in ancient times. But high demand doesn't mean that it was easily available and economically viable. Therefore the search for an alternate began and was concluded in 1889 when a French industrialist introduced the 'Chardonnet Silk' first ever variety of what we call today as Rayon. Since then many improvements have been made in the properties of the fabric and numerous of varieties of the same has been introduced.
Another fabric resembling silk is the viscose. Rayon and Viscose are sometimes used interchangeably but they are not the same. The manufacturing process for both is the same but the materials used are different. Rayon is made by cellulose obtained from wood pulp which gives it more shiny finish and silky texture. Viscose on the other hand has variety of textures and finishes.
But, why both the fabrics are called Semi-synthetic ? Answer to this is in the processes involved in manufacturing the fibers. Both the fabrics are made from wood pulp, but they undergoes a series of chemical treatments to improve various of its properties.
