And as the name suggests pure sustainable luxurious textiles are what makes us unique. India has a rich tradition of craft and textile and this is what inspires us to create fabrics so gorgeous and luxurious that falling in love is but inevitable. Our story began a few years ago when Anavila was chosen to manage a CRAFT CLUSTER DEVELOPMENT PROJECT, by Ministry of rural development, Government of I

ndia in collaboration with NIFT, New Delhi as a Project Consultant and Design Studio Manager. A graduate from National Institute of fashion Technology in New Delhi ,India; Anavila started her career as a designer for leading fashion brands in India. A few years into the industry and she got drawn to rich heritage of Indian crafts and textiles. When on the project Anavila interacted with artisans across the length of the country. The beauty and immense possibilities trapped in these far out remote areas stayed with Anavila even after the project was concluded. And a contemporary take on Traditional Indian Textiles was born with Anavila. Over the last few years Anavila has created a design vocabulary that is contemporary and on-the-go-chic. Understated elegance that is not overtly embellished is what makes our sarees different. One can choose from a range of exquisite cottons and silks and linen sarees, lovely hand crafted which respect the environment and nature, while remaining true to the craft and the creator. Following fair trade practices and constantly working on improving the life of our artisans is important to us.

Terracotta, for me, comes from a place of instinct. I have always been drawn to clay and pottery in the same way I am drawn to fabric. Both are of the earth and water. The way clay is kneaded and shaped by the kumhar, and the way fabric breathes on a pit loom because of the moisture in the air, feels almost connected in some way. There is a shared language between textile and terracotta and that fascinates me. I collaborated with master artisan Shri Bhuvnesh kumar for the beautiful terracotta and stone pottery you see at the store. he has truly surrendered himself to this craft and the store feels much more peronal and alive with these peices.

Ma’am taught me appreciation of textiles at NIFT Delhi during my post graduation, which slowly became my favourite subject. the stories she wove the detailed study and archives she took us through were amazing. we went across timelines and geographies with her and found meaning and reason in the evolution of textiles.

post my graduation she was instrumental in my involvement with the craft sector. She has been a contant mentor in my life and her presence on this day holds a special meaning for me.

Linen has been at the heart of Anavila since the beginning.

Throughout our Delhi store linen flowers intertwine with sculptural metal rails, a quiet homage to the fabric that continues to shape our story.

Framed by arches, softened by handwoven linen, the outside begins to seep in. Ivory drapes fall gently, revealing glimpses of white within textiles, light, and stillness held in balance.

Almost serendipitously, the entrance to the store is marked by a bougainvillea in bloom. A flower that has long existed within Anavila’s visual and material vocabulary. Fondly referred to as kagaj baha by appliqué artisans for its paper- like petals, it carries a subtle familiarity within the world of the brand.

Delicate in appearance yet remarkably enduring, the bougainvillea thrives through Delhi’s harsh summers, embodying a resilience that feels deeply aligned with our ethos.
