Her stepping stone in designing was with a publisher in 1988. After marriage she, along with her mother in law, made a humble beginning with a stitching unit, in

Thereafter, she started trading, albeit in a small way, in " phool patti", and " patiala suits and sarees".Soon she realised that customers yearned for original designs along with a good fitting. This led her to creating unique designs in embroideries, and hand- painting. The Evolution
A consistent demand for her creations gave her the impetus to brand her creativity as Pehchan - An Identity. Pehchan of Delhi was thus formed in the year 2000.With increasing demand for her creations as well as a desire to give value to a wider group of customers arose the need to expand. By 2001, there was a desire to reach customers outside the capital. The firm was granted trademark registration under the label of Pehchan' with effect from December, 2003
