During my tenure as Manager/Buyer at Mitchell&Ness Sporting Goods (1987-2004), I reproduced a number of vintage professional hockey jerseys centering on the defunct World Hockey Association. This was the first reproduction that I designed and produced in 1987; the 1975 Minnesota Fighting Saints. Pederson’s Hockey Jersey Company originally made the jerseys for the team,they still had the jersey specs but I had to draw the front crest by hand.
Fighting Saints enforcer was Bill Goldthorpe , the inspiration for the movie Slap Shot Ogie Oglethorpe.
This is arguably the 1st Pro Hockey “Throwback” Jersey ever made?
