In 2016 HeavyMannaz studio started by capturing the graphic urban culture of some of Jamaica’s history in the 1970s and 1980s. At its core is the rebellious aesthetic of the correlation between politics and violence, through a collage of archival information. HeavyMannaz harnesses the culture of an era which is integral in the evolution of Jamaican cultural norms. We produce timely collections of
limited edition canvas bags with unique features that illustrate the narratives of this story. HeavyMannaz has established itself as a brand known for its unique collage of striking imagery, quality, style and authenticity. The first collection was announced in early 2015, with 4 pieces in the collection, 'Don Dadda', 'Don Gadda', 'Green Bay' and 'Likkle U*i'. In this collection each back pack has a unique print, with a blue zip which is complimented by three colours of leatherette (black, orange, green). We have since then launched 3 other collections; WestKingston17, Mannaz and Respect Collection, Goat Island is my neighbour 2020.
