The name of Tama River, a major river that runs through Tokyo and its surrounding areas, is actually derived from h**p. H**p used to be grown in a region called Tama, cultivated using the neighboring Tama River. In fact, "Tama" means "lots of h**p," indicating just how famous the area was for growing h**p. In fact, Asao Ward in Kawasaki City, also means the "land in which h**p grows." Although its context has disappeared from modern life, these names are clear indications to Japan's deep connection with h**p.
