I grabbed this fun apple fabric on a trip to Aomori and had to add some denim ofc so it has a denim pocket on the inside with some patchwork too ✂️ 👖 💛

Unfortunately, tomorrow’s market has been canceled because of the weather 😭

Juki update!

In case you missed it, I found a Juki DDL-5530N sewing machine at a Japanese thrift store and got an absolutely insane deal on it. I paid about $90 usd and it even came with a bunch of large spools of thread! (We counted them actually 168 🪡) and a drawer full of accessories like bobbins, needles, and scissors

So my husband and I started asking around & searching for a place to check it out and service it.. (they did let me sew on it at the store and it seemed to work just fine, but I want to get it cleaned up and see if anything major might need to be fixed) especially since this model was made in 1991 so she’s older than I am!

Well we finally found someone 😆 after securing a truck and trying to figure out how we were going to move it since these machines can weigh up to 200 lbs 😬 we also found out they’ll come to our house and service the machine here!!

This week is the Aomori Nebuta Festival, so they aren’t taking any service appointments. The soonest they can come out is August 27th BUT I’m just happy it’s finally happening! She’s currently in the living room because we had quite a time getting her inside lol but soon as they come and fix her up there’s already a spot for her in my studio. Wish us luck getting her up the stairs 😩

For this collab, I made this quilted tote from a traditional Japanese kimono, bringing together the beautiful purples and patterns that fit right in with her sessions. It’s a little piece of Japan turned into something new, and it’s ready for a new home.

Playing around with/ some new bag shapes lately 💜🧚🏽✨

I made this one using the last of a thrifted pair of Gap jeans I’d already used in a few other projects. I almost didn’t have enough left, but the color ended up being perfect. I also reused the original belt loops on the outside & the back pocket became a snap pocket inside.

so I finally finished this sling bag! It’s got a purple cord outer (actually used to be a button-up dress that I thrifted) & black cotton lining fabric. you may have seen this black n white fabric on some lil wallets I made recently & I was not done w it so that’s what I used to make the inner and outer pockets..the one on the outside has a snap pocket as well as a mesh zipper pocket. The purple cord pocket you see is inside the bag and was the original pocket from the dress I decided to just leave it as a fun addition to the lining

It has an adjustable webbing strap and I chose to use a white zipper for a pop against the purple 💜 trying out a new shape !! What do you think ?? 👀
