Sometimes culture doesn’t need to announce itself loudly.
These looks came together for a beautiful celebration uniting three cultures; Spanish, Congolese and Kenyan and what I love most is how the three cultures found their own conversation through fashion.

Neither look is a literal representation of a traditional costume. Instead, they are a contemporary interpretation of culture because fashion has always been more than what we wear.

It carries where we come from, who we are, and the cultures we meet along the way. ❤️

Existing between ritual and rebellion, adornment and armour, heritage and contemporary self-definition, "She Carries the Land" is a quiet but powerful statement on womanhood, labor and inheritance.

This is a wearable sculpture that explores the African woman as archive, medium and force. It speaks to inheritance passed down through hands, bodies and the silence of our mothers; endurance maybe? It asks what it means to wear your history without being weighed down by it.
Today, I am reminded that fashion is a living archive! Hola Sophie K. 👋

I'm sure by now you've seen "HATUA" making rounds and just to bring it home, it's an album done by the talented LIBOI

"HATUA" means "Step", a movement forward, a decision to grow and a commitment to becoming, at least in my own understanding. The themes explored by the album; identity, responsibility and our relationships with ourselves and others got me thinking so much about Afabri Design's journey.

Every exhibition, collaboration and creative risks have been HATUAs, deliberate steps taken towards understanding who we are as a brand, stories we carry and how we connect cultures and communities through fashion.

The "STEPS" made so far have not been "GIANT" but "INTENTIONAL"..Isn't that the idea? To make intentional steps? because motion is better than direction?

"HATUA" is a reminder and this post is an invitation, that identity isn't a destination but a journey and Kila HATUA ni muhimu ❤️
