Nocturnal Moments from Songzio’s 26 Autumn Winter Collection during presented under Pont Alexandre III, 75008 Paris.

‘Cast’

Informed by Songzio’s oriental avant-garde, the silhouette rejects the tailored fit of the 1900s to create volume without mass, creating garments that function as habitable voids rather than mere coverings. In place of traditional darts and seams, garments are cast by a process of torque. Fabrics are gathered and twisted at the waist or shoulder, mimicking the resistance of bent steel. Classic coats and robes are not belted, but rather pulled and fixed into a permanent state of tension, creating asymmetrical folds and drag lines that resemble metal under stress.

‘Crushed’

Lapels, flaps, pockets and hemlines are no longer flat geometric planes but are ruthlessly exaggerated, folded, and crushed into individual and permanent asymmetry, resembling Chamberlain’s torqued metals achieved by interlocking disparate automotive parts until they found their own jagged harmony. Channeling the raw torn edges of the welded ferrous parts, the garments feature exposed seams and raw-cut hems, executed with artisanal precision, turning appearance of ruin into details of elegance.
