So, we start a new column EGYPTIAN MYTHOLOGY. And we will start it with the meaning of the color blue. In ancient Egypt, blue was associated with the sky and waters. The color of the sky, which represented the male energy. The deep depths of the blue waters represented the feminine energy and the deeper, hidden secrets of life. It was believed that the hair of the Egyptian gods themselves was made of bright blue LAPIS LAZULI. This color was associated with life and rebirth, as the world was said rise from the primordial floods on the day the sun first rose.

What hairstyles did goddesses wear in Greek mythology?

All of us women try to take care of our hair and try many hairstyles during our life. So, how come in Greek mythology, hairstyles were looked after by goddesses.
Zeus's wife, Hera, had soft wavy shiny hair and covered it with a transparent veil. She also wore a diadem. Athena, the goddess, wore a helmet as a symbol of the city's protector. From under the helmet could be seen a pile of thin curls that fell easily. Artemis is usually depicted with straight hair, while Aphrodite wore a similar hairstyle with the addition of a delicate tiara. Demeter had soft wavy hair and wore a diadem like Hera.

How did it all start? Why did You come up with the idea to create a linen fashion house?

Questions that we receive all the time and today we will briefly tell You how the "LinenMadame" brand was born.

My name is Irena, I live in Lithuania, in the northern part of Europe. Lithuania is a small country located on the coast of the Baltic Sea. Our land is famous for its beautiful dense forests and amazing scenery of rivers and lakes. From my childhood, natural linen has accompanied my daily routine. Some of my childhood clothes and home textiles were made from linen, which my mom and grandmother used to make. When I was growing up, I started sewing clothes one step at a time. Over time, this has become my new hobby. As a student, I was already sewing the most sophisticated clothing models made from natural linen.

Many years have passed. My daughter and I were cleaning up the closets and found the same little madame clothes from my childhood and the clothes I made. One of the most amazing features of linen is the strength of its fabric, which is why these clothes have stayed the same from childhood. So, after this discovery, I started sewing again. The family saw my excitement and joy, so we all decided to open a “LinenMadam” handmade linen clothing business. Modern linen clothing patterns and linen traditions that are passed down from generation to generation is what makes up our small family business. I am glad my hobby has become something more and I can share it with You.

Let's look at the history of Greek mythology - how were goddesses and gods worshipped?

The ancient Greeks worshiped their gods every day. So it is not surprising that they needed a holy place where they could pray. Temples - in every city it was possible to find more than one. Sometimes several temples were built for the patron saint of the city. They were built in holy places, it is believed that there were manifestations of goddesses or gods to people. When praying, people brought offerings, usually food, to the temples. The rites were performed by the priests.
