A tradition in clothing that feels good on the skin.

The selected fabrics in Doussou Traoré collections are craft pieces thanks to the Malian artisanal know-how that is cultivated with tenacity over time. Dyes are extracted from natural sources such as mineral mud, indigo leaves, and other color bearing plant leaves and bark (Ngalama, N’peku, etc.). These sources are amongst the least environmentally impactful, while at the same time producing high quality results.

To obtain the beautiful mustard yellow, cloth is soaked in a mordanting solution made from boiling the tannin-rich leaves of the Ngalama (anogeissus leiocarpus) plant - which has also many medicinal properties.

The more dips in the dye solution the more vivid the color!
