Butterfly Cycles.🦋

Butterflies did not just pop out of nowhere, just like anything else, butterflies also have a beginning of their life.

🦋The adult female butterfly lays her eggs on plants. These plants will then provide nourishment for the caterpillars as they hatch. The eggs of butterflies can be rather tiny.

🦋The larva or caterpillar is the following stage. The caterpillar's task is to eat and eat and eat. During this stage, caterpillars can grow up to 100 times their original size.

Butterfly VS Moth! 🦋

Not only frogs that have a twin like toads. Butterflies also have a twin called a moth!
Even though they all seem similar, there are some different about them.

- Butterflies usually have a larger size of body and wings compared to a moth.

- Butterflies' wings are usually folded vertically up over their backs. The abdomen of moths is hidden by their wings, which are held in a tent-like configuration.

Types of Butterflies. 🦋

The butterfly that you usually see at your home is not the only type of butterfly. There are so many types of butterflies in this world.

🦋 Monarch
Monarch butterflies are the king of all butterflies and the most beautiful species on the planet, as their name implies.

🦋 Tiger Swallowtail
Swallowtail butterflies get their name from the tail-like extensions that emerge from their rear wings. Some of its species, however, are also tailless. The male and female wingspan of these butterflies is normally 8-90 mm.

🦋 Blue Tiger
Individual Blue Tiger adults can survive up to 6 months after migrating, breeding, and possibly overwintering.

Foods for Frog.🐸

Did you know that you can have a frog as a pet? It might not be a common practice in our country but people overseas do have frogs as their pet.

For those who plans to have a frog as their pet, these are few suggestion of food for them:

🐸Mealworms and waxworms - Frogs enjoy this wonderful treat as well. Mealworms, like crickets, are quite easy to locate and raise at home. They're also available at bait shops for fishing, although they're not gut-loaded.

🐸Grasshoppers and locusts - These are a little more difficult to come by in pet stores or buy for your frog, but they provide much-needed nutritional variety to your pet's diet.

🐸Bloodworms- Aquatic frogs will eat them, as well as other small worms, as their primary food.

🐸Mice - Large frogs, such as Pacman frogs and African bullfrogs, eat these as part of their diet. Start feeding your frog "pinkies," or newborn mice, as it matures.

Keep your pet frog healthy by giving them natural food, not processed food! ;)

Role of Frogs. 🐸

Every living thing on this planet has its own purpose. From the big animals like elephants to the small animals like fish and frogs is no exception.

Some of the role of frogs are:

🐸Control insects population - Frogs control the population of insects like cockroaches, grasshopper and caterpillar by eating them. Having too many of these insects will bring harm to humans.

🐸 Food source for bigger animals - Such as snakes, otter and storks. Frogs have a variety of tools to help them survive. When threatened, some frog flee, pretend to be dead, or swell up. Others, on the other hand, have more complex defences. Color is often used as a warning or as camouflage.

🐸To make medicine and painkillers - Frogs have the ability to secrete chemicals through their skin as well. Some secretions are useful, and scientists have exploited them to develop new antibiotics and pain relievers. However, some frogs produce toxins so potent that even touching them can be fatal. The most well-known example is poison dart frogs, often known as dart poison and poison arrow frogs.

Therefore, we need to take care of frogs and not be disgusted by them 😏🐸

Frogs, Lay Eggs or Give Birth?

Since childhood we have been taught that frogs are the kind of animal that lay eggs to the young. But, that is not the case anymore.

According to researchers in 2015, a newly reported species of frog gives birth to live tadpoles, making it the first known frog to do so. The frogs belonged to a species of Asian fanged frogs found by McGuire's colleague Djoko Iskandar, a zoologist at Indonesia's Institut Teknologi Bandung, several decades ago. The tail of two species of "tailed" frogs has evolved into a pen*s-like structure that delivers s***m to the female. The fertilised eggs of the female tailed frogs are subsequently laid beneath rocks in streams. Other frogs that have internal fertilisation give birth to "froglets," which are small frogs. According to the researchers, L. larvaepartus is the only species known to give birth to live tadpoles.

Look out for frog eggs or tadpoles in the lake or drain around your house! 🐸

Species of Frogs in Malaysia. 🐸

There are more than 5,000 species of frogs worldwide. But today, let's focus on a few types of frogs in our country.

🐸 Banded Bullfrog - The thick, black-edged, light brown to orange band that runs from the head down each side of the body distinguishes banded bullfrog from others. The underside is whitish while the upper side is dark to medium brown. The Banded Bullfrog is a highly adaptive species capable of surviving in flooded grassland, roadside puddles, and urban storm drains.

🐸 Malayan Flying Frog - Rhacophorus prominanus, the Malayan Flying Frog, is one of three closely related tree frogs with vibrant colours of green, turquoise, blue, and red. In southern Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, and Sumatra, this species can be found in primary hill and montane forest at elevations as low as 600 metres.

🐸 Borneo Eared Frog - This huge tree frog can be found in lowland rainforest up to 400 metres above sea level. It is most usually encountered in groups around suitable breeding ponds, clinging to surrounding foliage a few metres above ground. The huge size of the species, as well as the noticeable ridges over the eye and external ear-drum, or tympanum, make it easy to identify. A horizontal flap of skin extends beneath the tympanum.

Look around you, try to find any of this frog surrounding you.
