“TAILORS, STOP GUESSING! HERE’S THE RIGHT WAY TO MEASURE MEN’S ARMHOLE DEPTH.”
Do you know? If your armhole depth is off, your kaftan or shirt will never sit right.
METHOD 1 – Highly Recommended ✅
• Make a fist and measure the biceps 💪 (firm, not tight).
• Divide the measurement by 2, then add 1.5”.
Example: Biceps 14” → 14 ÷ 2 = 7” + 1.5” = 8.5” armhole depth.
⸻
METHOD 2 – Recommended ✅
• Divide the chest measurement by 4.
• Minus 2” for a fitted armhole.
• Minus 1” or 1.5” for a slightly loose armhole.
Example: Chest 40” → 40 ÷ 4 = 10” → 10 – 2” = 8” (fitted) or 10 – 1.5” = 8.5”
⸻
METHOD 3 – Not Recommended ❌
• Divide the shoulder into 2.
This often fails because some men have broad shoulders but slim bodies, which throws off the balance.

Remember: Tailoring is dynamic. Keep learning and adding to what you know 📌
