PART 9

THE DOCTOR’S REPORT (TESTIMONY)
Story by FlourishomageTv FlourishomageTV

Months later, Daniel was invited to speak at church.

He stood at the front with a cane in one hand and a Bible in the other.

The congregation knew his story.

They had prayed for him.

They had visited him.

They had sent meals and messages.

Daniel looked at them.

“I thought my testimony would be about being healed.”

The room became quiet.

“But God taught me that a testimony is not only about the ending.”

He paused.

“It is also about the nights when you cried. The mornings when you were afraid. The moments when you did not understand what God was doing, but you kept trusting Him anyway.”

Emily sat in the front row.

Rachel held her hand.

Daniel continued.

“I prayed for God to remove the cancer. He began by removing fear from my heart. I prayed for more time. He taught me to use the time I already had. I prayed for healing. He healed my relationships, my priorities and my faith.”

He opened his Bible.

«“My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.”
— Psalm 34:2»

Daniel looked at the congregation.

“I am still receiving treatment. I still have difficult days. I do not know exactly what tomorrow will bring.”

He smiled.

“But I know this: God has been faithful every day.”

The congregation stood and applauded.

Daniel looked at Emily.

She was crying.

He whispered,

“I told you I would start saying it every morning.”

She smiled.

“I heard you.”

His testimony did not pretend that suffering was easy.

It simply declared that suffering had not separated him from God.

And sometimes the greatest miracle is not that we never walk through the fire.

It is that we discover God walking through it with us.

CHAPTER 8

THE FINAL APPOINTMENT
(story by FlourishomageTv)

After months of treatment, Daniel returned for another scan.

This time, he did not ask the doctor for good news.

He asked for strength to receive whatever news came.

Emily sat beside him.

Rachel and Mark waited outside.

The doctor entered with the results.

He looked at Daniel.

“The scan shows significant improvement.”

Daniel stared at him.

“What does that mean?”

“The tumors have reduced considerably.”

Emily covered her mouth.

“Is it gone?”

The doctor smiled carefully.

“We cannot say it is completely gone yet. But this is a very encouraging result.”

Daniel closed his eyes.

Emily began to cry.

Daniel whispered,

“Thank You, Jesus.”

The doctor continued explaining the next steps.

There would be more treatment.

More monitoring.

More uncertainty.

But for the first time in months, hope felt stronger than fear.

When they left the hospital, Rachel and Mark stood up.

“Well?” Rachel asked.

Daniel smiled.

“The scan is better.”

Rachel burst into tears.

Mark hugged him.

Then Mark stepped back.

“So does this mean you are finally going to stop giving medical advice?”

Daniel shook his head.

“Absolutely not.”

“You are not a doctor.”

“I have experience.”

“You have cancer.”

“Exactly. I am highly qualified to complain.”

They laughed together.

That evening, the family gathered in the kitchen.

Emily opened her Bible.

«“O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.”
— Psalm 107:1»

They prayed.

They thanked God for the improvement.

They thanked Him for the doctors.

They thanked Him for every person who had stood with them.

Daniel knew the journey was not over.

But he also knew that God had carried him through every part of it.

THE DOCTOR’S REPORT
(story by FlourishomageTv)

PART7
THE VISITOR

One afternoon, a woman named Mrs. Carter came to visit.

She was the elderly neighbor Lisa had once helped downstairs.

Daniel did not know her well.

She carried a small basket.

“What is that?” he asked.

“Food.”

Emily smiled.

“You didn't have to bring anything.”

Mrs. Carter shook her head.

“I wanted to.”

She placed the basket on the table.

Inside were soup, bread, fruit and a small jar of honey.

Daniel looked at her.

“Thank you.”

Mrs. Carter sat beside him.

“I heard you were sick.”

“I am.”

She nodded.

“So was my husband.”

Daniel listened.

“He had cancer many years ago. The doctors said he had only a few months.”

“What happened?”

“He lived for seven more years.”

Daniel smiled.

“That is wonderful.”

“Yes. But the miracle was not only that he lived.”

“What was the other miracle?”

“He became kind.”

Daniel looked at her.

“He had always been a good man, but sickness softened him. He stopped being angry about small things. He called people he had avoided. He forgave his brother.”

Mrs. Carter looked at Daniel.

“Sometimes God heals the body. Sometimes He heals the heart. Sometimes He does both. But He is always working.”

She opened her Bible.

«“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God.”
— Romans 8:28»

Daniel nodded slowly.

“I want to become softer too.”

“You still have time.”

After she left, Daniel sat quietly.

He thought about the people he had resented.

The old argument with his cousin.

The friend he had stopped speaking to.

The apology he had delayed.

That evening, Daniel made a phone call.

“Hello?”

It was his cousin.

There was silence between them.

Then Daniel said,

“I am sorry.”

His cousin began to cry.

“So am I.”

They spoke for nearly an hour.

When the call ended, Daniel felt lighter.

The cancer had not disappeared.

But something inside him had changed.

And sometimes the miracle begins before the answer arrives.

THE DOCTOR’S REPORT

CHAPTER 6
THE LETTER
story by Flourish Omage.

A week after leaving the hospital, Daniel began writing letters.

One for Emily.

One for Rachel.

One for Mark.

He did not tell anyone.

He wrote about memories.

He wrote about regrets.

He wrote about faith.

To Emily, he wrote:

Thank you for loving me when I was difficult to love. Thank you for staying when fear made me quiet. If I could live my life again, I would still choose you.

To Rachel, he wrote:

You have always been stronger than you knew. Do not let sorrow convince you that God has abandoned you.

To Mark, he wrote:

Thank you for making me laugh when I wanted to give up. You were a better brother than I deserved.

When Emily found the letters, she became upset.

“What are these?”

Daniel looked down.

“Just letters.”

“Why are you writing goodbye letters?”

“I am not saying goodbye.”

“Then what are you doing?”

He struggled to answer.

“I am saying what matters while I still have the chance.”

Emily sat beside him.

“You still have many chances.”

“I hope so.”

She held the letters against her chest.

“I don't want these.”

“You don't have to read them now.”

“I don't want to read them ever.”

Daniel reached for her hand.

“Then let them remind you that I love you.”

Emily began to cry.

Daniel pulled her close.

They prayed together.

«“Teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”
— Psalm 90:12»

The letters were not a surrender.

They were an act of love.

Daniel had spent years assuming there would always be more time.

Now he understood that time was not promised.

So he began saying the things people often postpone.

I love you.

I am sorry.

Thank you.

I forgive you.

And sometimes God performs a miracle by changing the way we live before He changes the circumstances around us.

CHAPTER 4

THE EMPTY CHAIR
Story by Flourish Omage.

The new treatment made Daniel weaker.

Some days, he could not leave the house.

Other days, he could not leave the bed.

One afternoon, Rachel came to visit.

She brought groceries, medicine and a terrible joke.

“Why did the tomato blush?”

Daniel looked at her.

“I don't know.”

“Because it saw the salad dressing.”

Daniel stared at her.

“That was terrible.”

“I know. I brought it especially for you.”

He laughed, and the laughter turned into coughing.

Rachel's smile faded.

“Are you okay?”

Daniel nodded.

“I am.”

But she knew he was tired.

At dinner, the family sat around the table.

Daniel's chair was empty.

He had gone to rest.

Emily looked at the chair and began to cry.

Rachel reached across the table.

“Mom.”

“I just miss him,” Emily said.

“He's still here.”

“I know. But I miss the way things used to be.”

Rachel looked at the empty chair.

“So do I.”

They sat quietly.

Then Emily said,

“We cannot allow sickness to steal every good thing from us.”

Rachel nodded.

They began talking about old memories.

Daniel's first date with Emily.

Rachel's graduation.

The time Mark accidentally locked himself out of his own house.

Soon, they were laughing.

Daniel appeared at the doorway.

“What did I miss?”

Emily wiped her eyes.

“Your brother's humiliation.”

“Excellent. Continue.”

He slowly joined them at the table.

The meal was simple.

The conversation was ordinary.

But for a little while, cancer was not the loudest thing in the room.

Emily reached for Daniel's hand.

«“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
— Psalm 118:24»

Daniel squeezed her hand.

They could not control every day.

They could not control every report.

But they could still receive the moments God gave them.

And sometimes a miracle is not the disappearance of the problem.

Sometimes it is the grace to find joy while the problem is still present.
