At Akanni & Anike, fashion is not just about what you wear—it is about identity, heritage, and the stories you carry. Our creations are living testaments to the vibrancy of African textiles and the timelessness of design.
We draw inspiration from two iconic Yoruba fabrics: Adire “tie n dye”, with its intricate artistry, and Aso‑Oke, handloomed and handwoven for prestige. Reimagined into contemporary silhouettes for men, women, and couples, these fabrics are more than materials—they are cultural legacies, each thread carrying stories of resilience, artistry, and identity. Alongside them, Ankara with its bold, versatile prints, and other fabrics such as silk, bodicon, Crepe, Lace, etc. enrich our repertoire, allowing us to craft silhouettes that are both contemporary and deeply rooted in heritage.
In keeping with Yoruba tradition, we name our collections after praise names (oríkì) that honor lineage, character, and legacy. This practice infuses each outfit with symbolic depth, connecting wearers to a heritage of pride and affirmation. Every piece becomes more than fabric; it becomes a story, a heritage, and a celebration of identity.
From bold individual pieces that command attention to stylish couple’s ensembles that harmonize two styles into one statement, each collection is named with care—reflecting its fabric, silhouette, and design.
