Campaign Focus Areas
Based on the campaign’s messaging, the key thematic pillars appear to be:
1.Peace and Social Cohesion Emphasizing justice and unity as prerequisites for development in a constituency with a history of communal tensions.
2. Youth Inclusion and Empowerment Advocating for increased participation of young people in governance and creating economic opportunities to address unemployment.
3. Responsive Representation Positioning himself as a break from conventional political practices, with a commitment to accessibility and accountability to constituents.

Political Context
The Bassa/Jos North seat has historically been competitive, with voters prioritizing security, infrastructure development, education, healthcare, and agricultural support. The 2027 election cycle will likely test candidates’ ability to articulate concrete policy proposals and build cross-community coalitions.

As a youth candidate, Pasali represents the broader trend of increased youth engagement in Nigerian electoral politics following the Not Too Young To Run Act. His candidacy will be evaluated on the clarity of his policy agenda, organizational capacity, and ability to address the multi-layered needs of the constituency.

Conclusion
Hon. Khalifa Pasali’s emergence signals a deliberate attempt to introduce generational change in the representation of Bassa/Jos North at the federal level. The success of his aspiration will depend on his capacity to translate the “Game Changer” narrative into a detailed, credible, and inclusive policy platform that resonates across the constituency’s diverse communities.

ON THIS DAY — May 9, 1987

Nigeria lost one of her greatest sons.
Chief Obafemi Jeremiah Awolowo — lawyer, statesman, nationalist, and visionary passed away peacefully at his home in Ikenne, Ogun State. He was 78 years old.
Known simply as "Awo" or "The Sage," he served as the first Premier of Western Nigeria from 1954 to 1959, where he introduced free primary education, free healthcare for children, and established Africa's first television station.

Because of his leadership and vision, people called him the "Political Moses of Nigeria."
Just three days after his passing, the Federal Government renamed the University of Ife as Obafemi Awolowo University — a nation's way of saying: we will not forget.
His ideas on federalism, education, and social welfare were decades ahead of his time. Nigeria is still catching up.

Gone in body. Never forgotten in spirit. 🕊️
"The greatest legacy one can pass on to one's children is not money or material things, but a legacy of character and faith." — Awolowo
Rest well, Awo. Nigeria Untold remembers.

🚨 IRAN WAR — DAY 72.

HERE ARE 10 THINGS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW THAT YOU SHOULD KNOW.

1. TRUMP JUST DEPARTED FOR BEIJING. HIS PARTING WORDS:
"I DON'T THINK ABOUT AMERICANS' FINANCIAL SITUATION."

Before departing for Beijing to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping,

Trump was asked whether the financial strain Americans are facing because of the Iran war was motivating him to reach a peace deal.

His response: "I don't think about Americans' financial situation."

Doesn't matter if he's worried about the financial situation or he thinks everyone is doing great, this is how leaders speak before any negotiation, no sign of weakness.

2. THE WAR HAS NOW COST $29 BILLION. CONGRESS IS DEMANDING ANSWERS.

Defense Secretary Hegseth and Joint Chiefs Chairman General Dan Caine faced bipartisan questions from Senate and House lawmakers today about the cost of the war which the Pentagon confirmed is now $29 billion.

From $18 billion two weeks ago to $29 billion today. That is $11 billion in two weeks.

The war has no confirmed end date.

3. SAUDI ARABIA SECRETLY STRUCK IRAN IN MARCH. NOW CONFIRMED.

Saudi Arabia launched multiple covert strikes on Iran in response to attacks on the kingdom, according to Reuters — citing two Western officials briefed on the matter and two Iranian officials.

The strikes were carried out in late March.

Saudi Arabia has never officially joined this war. It has been conducting covert strikes inside Iran for two months.

The Wall Street Journal also confirmed the UAE has been discreetly striking Iran including a strike on a refinery on Lavan Island in early April.

Bloomberg confirmed the UAE coordinated its strikes with Israel.

Three countries — the US, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE have all struck Iran.

4. KUWAIT ARRESTED FOUR IRGC OPERATIVES WHO TRIED TO INFILTRATE THE COUNTRY.

Kuwait accused Iran of attempting to infiltrate Bubiyan Island on May 1 with six armed IRGC members — resulting in the injury of one Kuwaiti soldier.
