One Thing That Can Affect the Outcome of Your Outfit Before Sewing Even Starts
A while ago, a customer sent me a style she wanted to make.The style was beautiful and I could already picture how nice it would look when finished.Then she brought the fabric.The fabric itself wasn't bad at all, but it wasn't the best choice for that particular style.
That's when I realized that many people don't know that fabric and style have to work together.Just because a style looks good in a picture doesn't mean it will come out the same way in every fabric.Some fabrics are soft and flowy.Some are firm and hold shape.Some stretch, while others don't.
So before I start working on an outfit, I like to talk with my clients about the fabric they've chosen and whether it will give them the look they're aiming for.
Sometimes I even have to say,"This fabric is beautiful, but it may not give you the result you want for this style."And honestly, it's better to make that correction before sewing begins than to be disappointed after the outfit is finished.
A good outfit doesn't start with cutting fabric.It starts with making the right choices from the beginning.
