Heavenly Father,

Today, I lift my dear brother before You with a heart full of gratitude. Thank You for preserving his life and bringing him to another birthday in good health and strength. Thank You for every blessing You have already poured into his life and for the greater ones You have prepared for his future.

Lord, surround him with Your unfailing love and divine protection. Guide every step he takes and let Your wisdom direct every decision he makes. Open doors of favor that no one can shut, and bless the work of his hands beyond his expectations. May he experience breakthroughs where there have been delays, peace where there has been worry, and joy that overflows every day.

Father, grant him long life, excellent health, strength, and prosperity. Keep him far from every form of evil, sickness, disappointment, and harm. Let his dreams come to pass according to Your perfect will, and may he never lack any good thing.

Growing Up in the 1970s

Growing up in the 1970s, my childhood was filled with simple joys and strong family values. Every morning began with helping my parents around the house before getting ready for school. Respect for elders was a way of life, and we were taught to greet everyone politely, work hard, and be content with what we had.

As a young girl, happiness wasn't measured by expensive things. We found joy in playing with friends outdoors, listening to stories under the moonlight, singing, laughing, and dreaming about the future. We didn't have mobile phones or social media. Our friendships were built face-to-face, and our memories were made in real moments together.

We dressed modestly, spoke carefully, and carried ourselves with humility. Many girls dreamed of becoming teachers, nurses, seamstresses, or businesswomen, believing that with patience and determination, their dreams could come true.

Today, young girls are growing up in a very different world. They have smartphones, the internet, and endless opportunities to learn and connect with people across the globe. They are more confident in expressing themselves and have access to careers and experiences that many girls in the 1970s could only imagine.

At the same time, today's girls often face pressures that were less common in the 1970s, such as constant comparisons on social media and the feeling that they must always keep up with changing trends.

Every generation has its strengths. The girls of the 1970s often grew up with close family bonds, patience, and resilience, while today's young women benefit from greater educational opportunities and broader career choices. Looking back, I cherish the timeless values of kindness, respect, gratitude, and perseverance—qualities that remain valuable no matter the decade.

One customer almost made me question my sewing skills.

Every single time she came to collect her outfit, there was always something to complain about.

"The sleeve is too loose."

"The neckline is not exactly how I imagined it."

"I expected the skirt to be a little longer."

No matter how much effort I put into making her outfit perfect, she always found something to say.

One day, I quietly asked myself, "Maybe she should find another tailor."

But guess what?

A few weeks later, she was back again with another fabric.

Then another one.

And another.

That's when I realized something...

Some customers complain because they have very high expectations, not because they don't value your work. If they keep coming back despite all the complaints, it means they still trust you more than anyone else.

As tailors, we should listen, improve where necessary, and remain professional. Not every complaint is hatred—sometimes it's just the customer's way of seeking perfection.

Customer: "Tailor, please remember to add 4 inches for zip allowance."

Me: "4 inches? For zip allowance?"

Customer: "Yes, that's how my previous tailor used to do it."

I smiled and politely explained that a zip doesn't need 3 inches of allowance. A zipper is installed using the correct seam allowance based on the garment design and the type of zip being used. Adding random extra inches can affect the fit and finishing of the outfit.

It's funny how, in almost every profession, some customers confidently tell professionals how to do the work they trained and practiced for years to master. 😂

We don't walk into a pharmacy and tell the pharmacist how to mix medicine, or into a mechanic's workshop and tell them which bolt to tighten first.

Trust your tailor to do the technical part. Your job is to tell us how you want the outfit to look; our job is to make it fit beautifully. ❤️✂️

😂 Tailor to Tailor... Have You Ever Experienced This?

A customer came for her fitting and said with a very serious face:

Customer: "Aunty, please add 4 inches for seam allowance."

I smiled and asked, "Why 4 inches?"

She replied, "You never know... I might gain weight, and I don't want to sew another dress." 😅

I told her, "My sister, with 4 inches, this dress might be waiting for your future self instead of fitting you today!" 😂

We both laughed, and I explained that the right seam allowance depends on the style, fabric, and whether future adjustment is needed. In the end, we agreed on a more reasonable allowance, and she left happy with a beautifully fitting outfit.
