Then measure the waist-to-hip length, guiding where shaping begins, and finally the skirt length, which determines the elegance of the final look.

Get this wrong, and the entire bodice pulls. Get it right, and your garment transforms.

​Here are 3 golden rules we covered in class today for drafting a perfect straight sleeve:

​The Caps Height Matters: This determines how comfortably the arm can move. Too high and it binds; too low and it creates excess bulk.

​The front curve is always slightly deeper than the back to accommodate the forward roll of the shoulder.

​Measure Twice, Cut Once: Always check that your sleeve cap measurement matches your bodice armscye before putting scissors to fabric.
