• Side Seam Placement: The side seam is sitting right and not distorted—showing correct alignment from front to back.

⚠️ Areas to Improve:

• Back Contour Fitting: There’s a slight bulge at the lower back/zipper area. This could be from:

• Insufficient back waist darts or shaping.

• The fabric not being eased or stabilized properly before zipper insertion.

• A zipper that may have slightly stretched the fabric during sewing. • Neckline Fit at the Zip Top: The neckline shifts slightly at the top near the zipper, likely due to not notching, pressing, or stabilizing the neckline edge before sewing.

💡 Suggestions Moving Forward:

• to understand zipper insertion with stabilizers (stay tape or interfacing) to prevent stretching.

• to understand back darts or contour shaping even in beginner bodices to promote a closer fit to the spine curvature.

• Help her understand body posture and swayback—many beginners don’t realize how much posture affects back fitting.

Encouragement Note:

Despite the minor flaws, this is a fantastic effort for someone in her first week of pattern drafting and construction. The fact that the bodice fits her shoulder and side lines well already shows she’s getting the fundamentals right. The little imperfections are golden opportunities for learning—and that’s exactly what the Academy is about.🌟 Overall Verdict:

She’s doing excellently well for someone in her first week. Her work reflects strong potential, willingness to learn, and creativity. With continuous guidance at Hellenal’s Vogue & Academy, she’ll no doubt evolve into a confident corset maker and designer.

Student Spotlight: ✨

Last week, Hellenal’svogue & Academy welcomed Mrs. Rosemary, all the way from Edo State. She joined us as a complete beginner in pattern making, with a dream to master corsetry. But as always, we started from the foundation—the basic bodice block. In just one week, she:

🧵 Drafted and constructed her very first bodice,

✨ Learned the basics of pattern making, and

💎 Was introduced to surface design with beading

and here’s the beautiful result she created with her own hands!Her bodice turned out great at the front, and while the back needs a little more refinement (as shown in the last slide), it’s all part of the process. Every stitch is a lesson—and that’s how real skill is built.We’re super proud of her growth in just one week, and we can’t wait to see what she’ll create going forward

Here’s a breakdown of her progress Basic Bodice:

• Fit & Construction: The bodice she’s wearing sits neatly on her body. The armhole curve and neckline shape look accurate and comfortable.

That shows she’s already beginning to grasp key fundamentals like body measurement application and block drafting.• Fabric Choice: Using Ankara for her test bodice was a great choice—it’s firm and clear for spotting fitting errors.

• Presentation: The clean finish and confidence she wears it with is impressive for a first-timer.

🔹 Beading Work (Surface Design):

• Technique: The pearl beading on felt shows thoughtful placement and precision, especially for a beginner. Her “B” and apple motifs are well-formed and structured. • Creativity: There’s an intentional artistic approach in her design, especially with the 3D dangling bead strands on the “B”—a bold and playful touch.

• Neatness: Beads are uniformly spaced and well-secured—definitely a sign of patience and attention to detail.

Back Bodice Evaluation:

✔️ What She Did Well:

• Zipper Placement: The zip was sewn in neatly and doesn’t buckle or wave excessively—great for a beginner.

• Pattern Matching Effort: Though not perfectly aligned, there’s evidence she attempted to match the print, which shows awareness of visual harmony.
