THE MESSAGE MY HUSBAND DELETED BEFORE I COULD READ IT.
CHAPTER 4
I couldn't move.
The little girl standing beside David couldn't have been older than six.
She had his eyes.
His smile.
Even the way she tilted her head looked exactly like him.
My heart pounded so hard it hurt.
I stayed hidden inside my car and watched them from a distance.
The little girl laughed as David lifted her into his arms.
It wasn't the smile of a stranger.
It was the smile of a father.
Tears filled my eyes.
Has my husband been living a double life?
Was this the truth he had been hiding?
Then a woman stepped out of the building.
The same woman who had called me.
I recognized her voice immediately.
She looked around nervously before walking toward David and the child.
My chest tightened.
This was it.
The other family.
The secret family.
But something happened that made no sense.
The woman handed David a thick brown envelope.
Instead of smiling, David looked worried.
He opened it and quickly flipped through the papers.
His face turned pale.
The little girl stopped laughing.
Even the woman looked frightened.
Then David said something that sent a chill through my entire body.
He whispered:
"She wasn't supposed to know she's alive."
The woman looked straight toward my car.
And our eyes met.
Who is ready for part 5?
