First off, there are 3 types of Ripped Jeans: ⚫Holes ⚫Scrape & ⚫Shreds.

Since there is a thin line between "genius and insanity" in Fashion, it is best to know what to look out for when buying or combining ripped jeans and African wears.

⚫Colours: some colour combinations don't go well, universal Jean colours like Black & Blue are safest (you can play around with shades).
⚫Fitness: jeans you wear should fit your body type; especially since there is a probability that some parts of your legs or laps may be visible.
⚫Rips: some jeans are termed "ripped" but come out as rags when worn. There is a way to balance the fashion without losing out on the style. These tips below will help you:

⚫Holes are places in the Jeans where there is a visible window through the fabric (and as a result, to your legs).
💗Sub-rule A: holes should not be wider than the leg of the jeans. They look best horizontally.
💗Sub-rule B: Holes should not be more than an inch high when you're standing up. When you sit down they'll naturally expose more of your laps or leg, but anything more than a couple inches gets dicey.

⚫Scrapes, on the other hand are are small abrasions or scratches on the surface of the fabric, usually between a dime and quarter in size. They are fashionable and safer if you don't want visibility.

⚫Shreds, which are just places that the fabric has been torn, but threads remain, covering up some parts of the hole.
