I had an appointment with a new client who was introduced to me by someone he trusts ( A client) . When I got there, I realized I had forgotten my measuring tape. Immediately, I noticed he wasn’t happy about it.
I calmly told him not to worry. I explained that I had already seen his body shape and I was confident I could sew the outfit perfectly for him. The fabric he brought was very precious to him, but because of the trust he had in the person who referred me, he decided to hand it over to me. I collected the material and left.
Later on, he sent me a message on WhatsApp sharing his review. Check it out.
As a male tailor, this is a skill I believe we should work on: the ability to look at a male client and sew a well-fitted outfit without taking measurements. It is not magic; it comes with experience, practice, and training.
I’m not very sure if this works the same way for female tailors, because women have different body shapes and it may be harder to judge by sight. But if you’re a female tailor and you can confidently do this, please let us know in the comments.
Fashion is not just about sewing, it’s about skill, confidence, and trust.
