One major reason for fitting issues is,

inaccurate vertical measurements.

Your client’s vertical measurements are just as important as the horizontal ones.

Do not skip them, and do not rely on so-called “standard” measurements.

You can use standard measurements if you are into ready-to-wear, but as a bespoke designer, always take the vertical measurements of your clients.

For example, always measure the shoulder-to-bust point.

Don’t just assume that it is 10 inches for everyone.

For some people, it may be 11, 12, or even 13 inches, depending on their body size, shape, and height.

The same principle applies to the waist-to-major-hip line.

Many designers assume a standard 8 or 9 inches, but in reality, this varies from one client to another.

Some clients measure 11 inches, 12 inches, or 13 inches from the waistline, and this difference can greatly affect the final fit of the garment.

When your measurements are precise and accurate, fitting issues become minimal or there won't be any.

Measure every client as they are, not as the standard says they should be.

As a client too, you can always tell or remind your designer to take your vertical measurements😌
