“How do I hear God?”

Maybe you’ve heard someone say, “God told me this,” and you’re wondering, “How do I know when God is speaking to me?”

First, don’t assume that every thought, feeling, dream, or voice you experience is God speaking.

1. Start with the Word of God.

God has already spoken to us through His Word.

2 Timothy 3:16 says, All scripture is given by inspiration of God.

So if you think God is telling you something, the first question is👇

Does it agree with Scripture?
God will never tell you to do something that contradicts His Word.
For example, if you feel, “I should forgive this person,” that agrees with God's Word.
But if you feel, I should take revenge, that's not God because Scripture tells us to forgive and not repay evil for evil.

2. Pray and ask God for direction.
When you don't know what to do, don't just follow your feelings
Go to God and say👇
Lord, I don't know what to do. Please give me wisdom and help me understand Your will.”
James 1:5 says that if anyone lacks wisdom, they should ask God.
Always Pay attention to godly wisdom.
Sometimes God's direction becomes clearer as you pray, study Scripture.

3 seek wise counsel from mature Christians.
Proverbs 11:14 teaches that there is safety in an abundance of counselors.
So don't make every major decision based on, I just feel like God told me.
Slow down. Pray. Check the Word. Seek wise counsel.

4 Obey what God has already shown you.
Sometimes we're asking,
God, what should I do?
while we're ignoring something He has already told us to do.
You don't need a special voice from heaven to know that you should forgive, tell the truth, avoid sin, love people, pray, or study God's Word.
Start obeying what God has already made clear.

And as you walk with Him, you will become more attentive to His direction and other ways He speaks.

So, how do you hear God?
Scripture, Prayer, Godly counsel Obedience.

And remember this👇
Don't chase voices. Chase God.
The more you know His Word and walk closely with Him, the better you will recognize what agrees with Him.
You don't have to figure everything out in one day.
You're learning to walk with God ,and that's a journey.

What Do I Do When I Don’t Understand the Bible?
Have you ever opened the Bible, read a passage, and thought, I honestly don't understand what this is saying?
If that has happened to you, don't panic.
You are not failing as a Christian.
The Bible contains things that are very easy to understand, and there are also passages that require more study. Even mature Christians continue learning.
So, what should you do when you don't understand what you're reading?

Do these👇

Number one: Read the surrounding verses.
Don't take one verse and try to understand it completely by itself.
Read the verses before it and the verses after it.
Sometimes the answer to what you're confused about is found in the very next verse.

Number two: Look at the context.
Ask yourself:
Who is speaking?
Who are they speaking to?
What was happening at that time?
What is the main subject of this passage?
For example, if you read a verse that seems confusing, don't immediately build a doctrine around that one verse. Find out what the whole passage is teaching.

Number three: Pray.
Before and while you study, ask God for understanding.
Psalm 119:18 says:
“Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
You can simply say:
“Lord, I don't understand this passage. Please give me understanding and help me to know what You are teaching me.
Number four: Write down your questions.
Don't feel that you must have an answer immediately.
If something doesn't make sense, write it down.
You can come back to it later.
As you continue studying the Bible, you may discover that another passage gives you the answer.

Number five: Ask mature Christians.
Find someone who has been walking with Christ and who understands the Scriptures.
Ask questions.
There is nothing wrong with saying, Please help me understand this passage.👇
Proverbs 11:14 says, “In the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

And finally, keep studying.
Don't stop reading the Bible simply because you didn't understand one chapter.
You don't learn everything in one day.
Think about school. If you don't understand a topic the first time your teacher explains it, do you burn your textbook and quit school?
No!

You go back, study it again, ask questions, and keep learning.
That's how Bible study works too.
So, when you don't understand the Bible, don't panic and don't give up.

DON’T BE DECEIVED
Not everything that sounds Christian is the truth.
If you are not intentionally studying God’s Word, you can easily be carried away by false teachings and every wind of doctrine. Ephesians 4:14

Don’t settle for religion. Know Christ.
Religion can teach you how to look spiritual before people, but only a genuine relationship with Jesus can transform your life.
One day, we will all stand before God.
On that day, what will matter is not how religious we appeared, but whether we truly knew Christ and faithfully followed Him.
So, examine your heart today:
Are you following Jesus, or are you simply practicing religion?
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:32

DON’T WAIT FOR THE BATTLE BEFORE YOU PREPARE FOR WAR! 🔥
A soldier does not begin training when he hears the sound of gunfire.
He trains before the battle.
He exercises when there is peace.
He builds strength when there is no enemy in sight.
He learns how to fight before he is sent to the battlefield.
So it is with the Christian life.
There is a level of spiritual strength you must develop before certain battles of life arrive.
Don't be a Christian who is comfortable being spiritually weak.

You pray only when the situation becomes serious.
You open your Bible only when you are desperate.
You seek God deeply only when there is a crisis.
You attend church, but never grow or make any effort to grow.
You hear the Word, but rarely practice it.
But life will eventually test what you have built.
There are storms that will test your faith.
There are disappointments that will test your trust in God.

There are temptations that will test your convictions.
There are seasons when prayers seem unanswered.
There are battles where emotions will not be enough to keep you standing.
And when such moments come, whatever has no deep root can be swept away.
Jesus said concerning the seed that fell on rocky ground:
“And he hath no root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.”
Matthew 13:21
Think about that.
The problem was not that the person heard the Word.
The problem was that the Word had no deep root in them.

🚨 CHURCH ATTENDANCE IS NOT THE SAME AS SPIRITUAL ROOTS.
There comes a time when your faith must stand when nobody is encouraging you, when circumstances are screaming the opposite, and when you cannot immediately see what God is doing.
That is why you must build your spiritual muscles NOW.
📖 Spend time with God in prayer and Bible study.
📖 Store up Scriptures in your heart and mind.
📖 Discipline yourself spiritually.
📖 Ask God for grace and increased faith.
📖 Ask God for the power to stand firm through every test of time.
Don't wait until the battle comes before you start preparing.
Build your roots now.
Strengthen your faith now.
Know your God now.
When the storm comes, let your roots be deep enough to keep you standing. 🔥
