Read them a story👇
Ohekwuru and the Evening Fireflies
It was a warm night in Ohekwuru’s village.
Crickets sang, the moon was bright,
and little golden lights flickered over the grass.
Ohekwuru gasped.
“Mama! Look the stars came down!”
Mama chuckled. “Not stars, my child; fireflies.
They shine to remind us that even tiny lights matter.”
Ohekwuru watched them dance.
They glowed for a moment, then disappeared,
then glowed again, blinking softly in the dark.
“Mama,” he said, “why do they keep going on and off?”
Mama smiled.
“Because sometimes, even light needs to rest, Ohekwuru.
But it always shines again.”
He watched quietly for a long time.
Then he whispered, “So when I feel tired or sad,
God still wants me to shine again later?”
Mama nodded.
“Yes, my dear. You don’t have to shine all the time.
Even when you rest, your light is still yours
and God will make it bright again.”
Ohekwuru smiled softly as he lay down.
The fireflies blinked outside his window,
like tiny messengers whispering,
“Don’t stop shining just rest.”
Ohekwuru's Lesson
Even lights that flicker still shine.
Rest is not failure it is how God refills our glow.
When we pause, we make room for His peace to strengthen us again.
🙏 Bedtime Prayer
“Dear God,
Thank You for fireflies and quiet nights.
When I feel tired, help me rest in Your love,
so I can shine again tomorrow.
Amen.”
