Why your bedsheet may not fit even when you bought the correct size 😩

One thing many people don’t know is that ALL mattresses are not the same 😩😂

This customer bought a 6x7 bedsheet for his 6x6 mattress and was worried because the bedsheet didn’t cover the mattress properly.

At first glance, some people may think:
“The bedsheet is small.”

But after checking the picture, I immediately understood the issue.

The mattress height was about 18 inches and the mattress was placed directly on the floor.

That changes everything.

Most standard mattresses are usually around 10 to 12 inches high.
Anything above that is considered extra high/thick and requires more fabric allowance.

So even if your mattress is 6x6, once the height is extra thick, your bedsheet size may need to increase to fit properly.

Example:
✔️ Standard 6x6 mattress → 6x7 bedsheet can fit normally
✔️ Extra high 6x6 mattress (especially on the floor) → may require a bigger bedsheet size for proper coverage

Same thing applies to other mattress sizes too.

So when vendors ask for:
• Mattress size
• Mattress height
• Whether it’s on a bedframe or floor

…it’s not to stress you 😭
It’s to avoid “what I ordered vs what I got.”

HMMM 😩😂 another business gist.

Yesterday someone reached out to me from Lapai after seeing my waterproof mattress protector advert. She needed 6x6 and 5x6 sizes.

We chatted back and forth, I sent pictures, explained everything well well 😂

E reach payment time…

Madam said:
“Haaa I can’t pay for something I’ve not seen until I see it first.”

Omo 😭
I was inside keke when that message entered.
I first weak.

The old me wanted to scream:
“After all these explanations againnn?” 😂

But the structured QJHEY in me said:
Relax.
She doesn’t know you yet.
Trust is also part of business.

So when I got to my store, I decided to show her that:

1. I am real
2. The products are real
3. And no, my pictures are not AI generated 😂

One funny thing is when people hear “mattress protector” they think it’s that regular mattress cover… until they actually see it.

Now guess who is expecting her package in Lapai? 😌

Yes, you guessed right.

Another family is about to protect their mattress investment, sleep comfortably and stop worrying about stains or spills.

Small reminder:

One thing business has taught me quietly is that not every lost sale means your product is bad.

Sometimes, customers genuinely want to buy from you… but trust, policies, convenience, or structure gets in the way.

I can’t even count how many times someone has said:
“Let me just come pick it up myself.”

And because of circumstances beyond my control, the sale didn’t happen again.

Painful honestly. Especially after spending money on ads and trying to convince people your business is real.

But I’m learning that growth is not only about selling quality products.
It’s also about building systems that make customers feel comfortable enough to buy easily.

Small things matter.
Trust matters.
Convenience matters.

Business will humble you, teach you, frustrate you… and still make you wiser at the same time.

Story time…

Sometimes sales is not always about running ads or shouting “patronize me” everyday.

Yesterday, something reminded me about the power of relationships in business.

There’s this customer of mine that has been with me since my Oriflame days. Before QJHEY BEDDINGS, before duvet sets, before mattress protectors… she has always supported me quietly over the years.

I passed by one of my old customers’ shop recently just to greet her, No marketing strategy. No pressure. Just genuine appreciation for someone that has supported my journey for years. while greeting her, she collected my number again. Apparently she lost my contact and that was why she hadn’t reached out in a long time.

Then on Saturday, she called me and placed an order worth over 80k 💃

And honestly, it made me think deeply.

Sometimes we are too focused on chasing new customers that we forget the people that already trust us. The people that have watched us grow. The people that already know our quality without too much explanation.

Many old customers actually want to buy from us again, but life gets busy. Work, family, responsibilities… your business may not even cross their mind at that moment.

But one follow up message…
One greeting…
One check up…
One reminder that you still value them… can bring them back.

This also reminded me that people don’t just buy products. They buy from people they trust, people they feel connected to, people that make them feel remembered.

Business is really beyond selling sometimes.
It’s relationships too.

One thing nobody prepares you for in business is how scammers now package themselves like opportunities.

Last week I almost entered one chance because of “contract.”

It started with:
“You were highly recommended.”
“We need your products for orphanage homes.”
“Commissioner wants to see samples.”

Omo… the story was sweet 😭

For a moment I was happy. I felt seen. I thought all the effort I put into my business online was finally attracting serious attention.

But small small, things stopped adding up.

No traceable business.
No proper identity.
Contradicting conversations.
Everybody sounding urgent.
Everybody avoiding physical verification.

And somehow… the supplier wanted ME to pay deposit before supplying goods for a contract that was supposedly waiting for me 😭

That was when my brain reset.

I just sat there and said:
“QJHEY, na you them wan use learn work?”

What pained me most was not even the transport money.
It was realizing how many people are improving themselves in business while others are improving themselves in scamming.

But honestly, I’m grateful.
Because this experience teach me that as business owners, excitement should never replace verification.

If a deal cannot survive simple research and basic questions, then it is probably not a deal.

These days, wisdom is also part of entrepreneurship.
